Personalized cocktail napkins - yay or nay?

MrsMcCoy, on December 6, 2015 at 10:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

What are your thoughts on the personalized cocktail napkins? I found cute ones with a mason jar on them (general picture attached - if you can picture it in navy with ivory print), which is in line with our theme and rustic decor. Did you, or are you, planning to do these? If so, how many need to be purchased? I am estimating 100 guests, so would 300 or 400 be enough?

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

I am not, I'm just getting all my napkins in our colors. It wasn't worth the extra money to me to get personalized napkins.

@Kris- how many did you order vs. how many guests you had? Thats my worry - having these napkins for the first 4 years of our marriage! haha

This and things like this are filed under unnecessary expenses for me. This wedding is already a money pit, I don't need to spend more on napkins with our names on them. Others might think they're worth it though, if you like them and think it's worth the money then go for it.

I think they're a waste. I've never noticed if anyone had them and it's a napkin. It'll go in the trash. It's amazing what people spend on literal garbage!

If I had extra money I probably would have done them, but I don't think they are necessary so we didn't get them.

I did a lot of personalized things...mainly because FH wanted it. I am inviting 125 guests so I ordered 150 personalized and then had plain back up of the same color. I did this for all of the areas that needed napinks...guest tables, smores bar, dessert table and bar.

Those are cute but do seem to be an unnecessary expense. No one is going to save a souvenir napkin. They will wipe up their spilled beer with your pretty logo.

The last wedding I went to, the couple had personalized plastic cups. Another had can coozies. I don't want to admit how many cups I stuffed in my handbag, and I use the coozies all the time.

Personalize something people will actual re-use.

Thanks ladies- you are totally right. These are so cute, but a completely unnecessary expense. FH's best friend owns a screenprinting/promo company, so we are going to have them do coozies for us, so no need for personalized napkins too. Thanks for bringing me back to reality! Its easy to get carried away.

    ETA: yikes, proofread!

We got them. They are totally unnecessary, but they were cheap and fun. But we still have some, 6 years after the wedding.

I'm thinking about getting personalized cocktail napkins since they're pretty cheap and cute. Totally unnecessary, but I like them. Plus it's not like leftover napkins aren't useable, like 2d Bride points out!

If you have it in your budget, fine. But honestly, these will literally be thrown away - i.e. that is their purpose. Also, people will be unlikely to notice or care. Take that money and treat yourself to dinner instead.

We opted for personalized matchbooks instead. We figured we had to provide a way to light the sparklers for our sparkler exist, so why not? I wanted to do napkins, but it was an unnecessary expense for us. No matter what, we would have had to purchase some sort of fire starter for the sparklers. I think we paid like $35 for 100 matchbooks. Ian reeeeeallly wanted the boxed ones, then he saw how much more they cost. Edited because I can't spell tonight.

After I logged out last night, I kept thinking 'well, they really aren't that expensive...' Ah. On the fence about ordering a small quantity (like 100). Since we are providing coozies, it's unlikely the beer drinkers will use them. We are only doing beer & wine. I'll put this on the back burner for know and see how the budget is looking in a month or two.

    Thanks again ladies!

I I bought some on cyber Monday just cause I was on a shopping spree on the knot. Its like $30 for 200. I think its cute. If no one uses them at the bar oh well. No big deal over $30.

We found some on sale with The Knot and DH really wanted them so I got them. I think we spent $30 for 150-200. We ended up having just over 100 guests. DH thought it was worth it to have extra cocktail napkins near the sweet bar and the cake and mints. Oriental Trading normally has them reasonably priced as well.

I was going to say they were so freaking cheap my mom got them for me without even telling me. I think it's a nice touch, and could be nice and easy to save in a memory box type thing.

For our engagement party we had napkins that said "Yes. That's what she said." (we love The Office). That way, they aren't super personalized that they couldn't be used again for either our events like shower, wedding, or then for someone else! But I like your thought now about the overkill on the personalization since you are doing the coozies.

Mine come with the venue, otherwise I probably would not be getting them.
