Personalized napkins, are they worth it?

Alondra, on August 15, 2011 at 11:17 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 31

For all the ladies who just recently got married or have been married for sometime..

I'm on a budget, but buying personalized napkins is not that big of a cost. I could get $200 napkins for about 50 bucks from theknot.com. My mother says that in the end, they really don't make a difference and they will just be thrown away. Were they worth it? Will I regret it if I do not purchase them for my weddign?

Eh, I had them, but nobody really noticed, and we had a lot left over. We use them when we host cocktail parties.

I say for go the customized napkins. Not to many people are going to notice and they just get thrown away.

My response was going to be the same as Shannon's.. "Eh"

We had them, and they were pretty, and some people did comment on them, but its not like they'd be missed if they weren't there. I say if you want them, get some personalized, and then some plain ones in a different color. We had dinner napkins and cocktail napkins, and I should've just gone with one or the other.

They're now sitting in a basket on a shelf somewhere, and I use them when we're out of paper towels and I haven't gotten a chance to go to the store and get more lol

I wouldn't bother. On a budget, put the money towards something more important.

Not married yet, but we plan on skipping them.

I think they are a cute idea, but we could use the money elsewhere in our wedding budget.

You can find a good variety of napkin colors and design options for under $25 at www.birchcraft.com. You can find a dealer in your area, or shop online. If you are expecting 100 guests, I would recommend that you only order 50. You don't want to have too many leftover, and you can mix your printed napkins with plain colored napkins in your accent color, or matching if you think you'll need more. The leftovers can also be used for your anniversaries and home parties in the future, especially if you have them printed with your names and date or a monogram.

My sister got married 9 years ago... she still has leftovers and we still see them pop up occasionally.

Thank you everyone, at first I was head on in buying them but after talking to my mom, I thought maybe it's not as important. Thank you for your input, I'll be passing on personalized napkins Smiley smile

I think of it this way: do your really want your guests wiping their mouths and blowing their noses with your name? Smiley smile

My mother was like "They will letteraly throw away your money". The thought of that made me really think twice about purchasing them.

It's really up to you. I decided to have them on our cake table only.

Thanks Nakia, I've actually looked into Party City and they are super cheap. I've also looked into Amazon but I'm a little iffy about buying from there.

I have been contemplating this becuase I LOVE how they look. Our venue provides everythign, in white but I have decided to just buy some plain colored beverage napkins instead. It will still add an extra bit of color and you can get 30 napkins in a pack for $1 at the Dollar Tree.
