I mentioned some beach resort destinations and he shot them down because we really hate leaving our dog behind and most of them aren't pet friendly. She's a rescue and ever since we got her she's had pretty bad separation anxiety. It's really hard for us to leave her. Anyone know of any dog friendly honeymoon spots?

Starwood resorts, W chains and Kimpton all very dog friendly. Southern California is very dog friendly and has many beaches (Laguna, San Diego, Huntington) that welcome dogs, plus ample doggie daycares. Florida is also very dog friendly.

I recommend BringFido.com as a starting point but also if you have a place in mind don't hesitate to search for dog friendly accommodations.

I have even found dog friendly accommodations in Europe through VRBO. They have a pet friendly box you can check to search.

Not sure where you live - but Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is a great place! We have taken our dog there multiple times. I know the struggle because we have one dog with separation anxiety and another that doesn't get along with other dogs so we pretty much have to take them everywhere we go. If that sort of place is not your thing - La Quinta Inn has hotels just about anywhere that allow up to two dogs of any size

I haven’t had a lot of trouble when checking into hotels. The Super 8 is almost always pet friendly. The best advice I can give is to call ahead and ask if they allow for pets to stay and to let them know it is a working dog. Most honeymoon Rentals or hotels know that working dogs behave better than some children. Some hotels may charge for the night but it is usually about a ten dollar cleaning fee. I haven’t been rejected from any hotel yet as long as I tell them ahead of time, and if they do just call another hotel. Also try and ask for a first floor room near an exit.
