Pet names for your spouse/fiance

Andrea, on August 21, 2024 at 10:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
So we were socializing with some other couples this weekend and one of them referred to her husband as “Lumpy.” Someone asked about it and she laughed and said “He’s my lump of love.” 😆 That led to chatting about pet names, and they were surprised I just call my husband by his first name. We’ll use hon, sweetheart, or babe occasionally, but otherwise it’s just first names.

Are we unusual? Do you use special nicknames for your partner, and if so how often?

We use "babe" or "hubby" or "wifey" on occasion, but otherwise, we mostly just use our first names when talking to each other.

We mostly just use love/lover or babe and he'll call me Kat sometimes.

Once in a while he'll give me a really weird nickname like his little leech or his little melted (some kind of candy) but I don't think I've ever called him anything weird like that

I call him babe or bebe. He calls me honey or love. I cracked up at LUMPY though.

If I called my husband by his birth name, he would probably think I had either lost my mind or he was in trouble 😂😂
We use the typical pet names that everyone else uses (babe, sweetheart, love, etc.). But mostly I call him “Boo”. Which actually worked out really well, because we ended up getting married on Halloween! So this year for our one year anniversary, I am going to get a ghost tattoo to represent us 🖤👻

Oh no. If the power went out at my wedding, we just wouldn’t have had music. Brides and grooms who sing at their weddings give me the absolute ICK. Super cringe and awkward lol

Yikes. Yeah, I definitely would have just scrapped the first dance altogether. TBH, if we knew we wouldn’t have power for our entire reception, I would’ve just taken everybody out to a restaurant to eat instead. No way I am asking guests to sit in the dark without music, heat or AC.

You made a separate post about this and keep bringing it up in every thread you comment on, no matter how unrelated. It’s getting old. 🙄

Stupid phone sent it before I finished lol ok so he’ll also call me bunz or lightbulb head because my brain is always on ready to go! Sometimes I’ll call him string bean lol since he’s tall and athletic build.
