Petal Aisle Runner, Yes or No?

AngelKidAllan, on January 15, 2014 at 5:43 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

I am having my ceremony in a barn on an old homestead that was renovated in my hometown. Overall I would say the wedding isn't too formal and is very relaxed and I want to keep things simple. I have recently started seeing petal aisle runners and I am in love with them. Is it too formal to have for my wedding with as little formality as I am having?

Ive seen to many people trip on aisle runners so I personally wouldnʻt have one but if youʻre in love with them then have one

When you say petal aisle runner are you talking about the pretty designs made with the flower petals down the center of the aisle?

Like this but the whole lighter green part around the design would be petals too

Here's a couple I like, it will be the pattern of the red but the color will be lilac so closer to the purple one. Check your florist for the cost. Our said it was gonna be a little pricey. It's a garden wedding so it makes sense. We aren't having too many other flowers since the space is so lush and green.

That's what I thought just wanted to be sure.

    No, I don't think it's too formal.

I just showed the idea to my fiancee and he loves it. I can't wait to make it!

What would the isle runner look like after you walk over it with your dress... all those petals will get caught under... think about it, you would literally be sweeping them... unless your dress doesn't touch the floor.

Our wedding is in a rustic barn, very, very romantic setting. I'm making to aisle "liners" for our ceremony to line each side of the aisle. I love the petal look, but want something to match our theme.

Here's the link to my inspiration!

My dress won't touch it. I am not wearing a full length gown. So just people walking on it. No sweeping

One tip-Make sure to put up a ribbon across the aisle blocking it before the ceremony starts so guests do not walk all over your aisle design before you get to walk down the aisle. Right when the ceremony starts you can have your coordinator or first member of the wedding party untie the ribbon. You would be surprised how many guests so rudely walk all over the petals so make them go around the sides to sit.

I am going to use fake petals and glue them down so it Will be unrolled right at the beginning and nothing will move. I have seen other people do it that way and it worked perfectly.
