Petal Toss at Ceremony?

Chantelle, on July 7, 2021 at 11:11 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
Did anyone have their guests do this/plan to do this? Has anyone done this as a guest? Was it worth it? I’m wondering if it feels cute or fun to do and if it is worth the extra mental energy lol. Thanks in advance

I've never heard of guests throwing petals. I had two flower girls (my niece and husband's cousin's daughter) throw petals before I walked out. I think guests throwing petals sounds a little awkward. Would they throw them before you walk down? When you two walk up for the recessional? Will only guests on the aisle throw petals? Otherwise, you have people throwing petals on other people. As a guest, I would be a little confused if I was given flower petals.

Oh I've seen it and it's lovely!

My BIL and his now-wife had petals lining the aisle, and after they walked back up the aisle, my auntie-in-law grabbed a handful and threw it over their heads. The photos looked gorgeous.

The only thing to be conscious of is that red petals will stain a white dress, so maybe go for pale colours only.

Here's a pic of the way petal tosses look:

I personally think they're super romantic.

We're thinking of doing this with dried petals (from Etsy). With cones holding them on the seats lining the aisles. I think it seems cute and romantic. You just need something to hold the petals and to order them, which isn't that much extra mental energy to expend but I totally understand feeling overwhelmed by planning the small details.

I love the idea but would read your contract thoroughly for any clauses regarding this. Our venue stated we needed to pick up anything tossed, so we opted not to do anything like this so we didn't have to do cleanup. Some venues are specific about what can and cannot be tossed (many places won't let you do rice, or sequins, or non-biodegradable confetti, for example). So just double check that before you put more time/energy into figuring out if you want to do a petal toss or not.

I think this is a great idea! I myself got to enjoy this as a guest and it was so romantic. The photos looked like they were out of a fairytale.

I did it and it was amazing and I’m so glad I expended the extra energy.

I ordered from flyboys (slightly imperfect petals, 50%off)
I took an old music book and made my own cones.
I stuffed them the day before, it took me 5 minutes.
I had my sister pass them out to guests before the ceremony started.
Our officiant said “ok everyone, get ready to throw those rose petals, I now present to you.. mr and Mrs....”
And when we walked down the aisle everyone threw their petals on us. I lovvvved it!
We were outside in a backyard!
