Petals lining the aisle

Renee2014, on December 2, 2013 at 9:39 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

Rather than have a runner I want to use rose petals to line the aisle. I am not using a florist. We are buying all our flowers from Kroger and my cousin is putting everything together. Ladies who have done this before how many petals did you use and how many guests were you seating?

Did you check with your ceremony site? some places do not allow real petals on their floors.

sorry to be the rain on the parade girl....

if they do allow it - a friend got petals from a florist off roses that were no longer able to be sold, but the petals were great for the flower girls to toss. I don't know how many she used. maybe you can score some petals from kroger like that too ( they were free)

My venue has white marble floors and does not allow real petals. Fake maybe ok but not real. We have to have the mess cleaned up before everyone leaves anyway.

There are some calculators for that kind of stuff, if you google it. You would put in how long your aisle is, and how thick the lines with the petals and it tells you how many rose petals you need.

Where would we be without google! I googled it and it took me to a great tutorial on fiftyflowers.com! Now I just need to know the length of the aisle and I am all set!

I actually saw a photo from the venue with the petals lining the aisle and that is how I got the idea! I was going to do fake ones underneath to save money and then add real ones to the top layer!

    Thanks ladies!

Im doing this! Its a pain in the ass! I have about 27 feet of aisle so I bought green tulle on sale at Hobby Lobby and I got 3000 white petals from Dollar tree. Granted since they are cheap they are a little see through so I have to double layer them so it may be different for you but I have ben working on one side of the aisle on and off for about a month now and have about 15 ft done and its taken about 1500 petals.

    Good luck!

You can also find fake rose petals at most craft stores that are a little better quality & go from there.

My venue is outdoors and it's opposite- they do not allow fake rose petals but do allow real. So make sure to check with the venue!

Future Mrs Axtell check out the tutorial on fiftyflowers.com it was extremely helpful in figuring out the square footage calculation and then how many petals you need for the square footage! I am also going to buy some in bulk from Amazon. I saw like 4000 for 20 dollars! Pretty good deal in my mind!

I am using real petals to do my whole aisle and need 240 cups of petals for moderate coverage on a 24 foot aisle.

If you're gluing the petals to tulle, wouldn't it be better to have the tulle match the color of the petals?

Florists around here will give you left over petals for free but the won't sort by colour. You just get a couple bags of mixed colours.

I chose to have the tulle match the grass so it give the illusion that the petals were just spread out there instead of glued to soemthig. We are going to nail the tulle in the ground so it dont blow away. i got 3000 petals for $10

When you go to their website I went to the very bottom and under Programs there is a link for flower videos. I then scrolled down until I found the video. Hope that helps if the link doesn't work!

I really wanted rose petals to line the aisle, however my venue won't allow it. The ceremony is outdoors and said even if it wasn't against their policy they would advise against using rose petals because if there's any wind or breeze the petals will be gone before you get there.

@Nancy I never thought about gluing the petals. That's a great idea! My venue doesn't allow silk petals outside, only real. But if there are glued to something and can't blow away they might allow it.

I also thought of doing this for a diy aisle runner! But I never considered glueing it. I could use this same one in the church at the reception somehow. Wow and it would leave less mess! Thanks for the idea guys!
