I have 2 huge saint Bernard's. We're going to be on our honeymoon for 10 days and IDK what to do with them. Nobody in our families want to watch them cuz they're so big or their rentals don't allow pets. I feel terrible for boarding them that long. Itd be at a pet retreat, very nice place! Am I over...

Am I over thinking this? Do you think they'll be OK at the retreat for 10 days? Has anyone else boarded their pets that long? I feel so guilty for leaving them. Someone please ease my mind.

I think you're ok boarding them for 10 days, as long as the place gives them plenty of exercise. My parents are watching my dog while we're on the honeymoon. They have 2 dogs, so it isn't out of their way to add 1 more.

FH dog loves going to the kennel! She gets so excited it's like a vacation for her.

We are boarding our dogs at a place that has a large, fenced yard for running and playing. I understand the anxiety. Board them at the pet resort. If that is the one you like after visiting a few. They will be fine. Take their beds or favorite toy, or sleep in an oversized shirt for a few days and send it with them. They'll recognize your scent and will be comforted by it.

I board my dog with a daycare/boarding facility. During the day he gets to run around and play. I would highly suggest that you do a couple test runs with your dogs if they are not used to being boarded. My dog has anxiety and I think it helped taking him to daycare a few times before leaving him there for a few days.

They'll forgive you! Smiley smile but really those places are awful. I was in that same boat for a while (Tibetan mastiff) but luckily I found a couple that raises huge labs & keeps them outside at their house, they watch my girl for $10/day! Maybe there's something like this by you?

My FH and I are having this same issue. We have boarded our pup before. He boards at his daycare and they are great. Each pup has its own suite, non kennel facility, and he plays all day so super tired at night. He loves the staff and has been going twice a week for over a year. But the longest we have boarded him has been 3 nights and between our wedding and honeymoon we are looking at 8 nights! I think he will be fine but FH and I are a bit concerned. My advice is to find a dog daycare that boards. Don't want him to cooped up in a kennel that long with nothing to do.

We hired a pet/house sitter. She will be at our home with our animals. Our animals will be comfortable since they are at home and our home won't be empty.
