Petticoat or no?

Petticoat or no? 1
Does

Do you think I should wear a petticoat with this dress? If I wear one do I still need to get it shortened? I’m standing on a pedastool in this pic

I wouldn’t. I love the a-line and how it lays in the picture. Gorgeous dress!

You will look gorgeous in the dress either way! It really is about what you like and what you feel comfortable in. I wanted a full princess-like dress, so I chose to have a petticoat. It was m comfortable the whole night and wasn't heavy like I thought it would be. It also helped with the length, as you mentioned, and I didn't need to alter the length at all because of it. I don't know how tall the pedestal is from the picture, but don't get a petticoat solely to fix the length. A good seamstress will shorten it so that you can keep the beautiful detail at the bottom!

I don’t think it needs one. I like it without.

I vote for no petticoat! The shape of the dress is gorgeous and lays perfectly on you exactly the way it is!

It looks like there’s a good amount of extra length, so I would expect to still need it shortened even with a petticoat. It’s just a matter of preference of poof. It looks great as is, but I’m sure it would look good with volume as well.

Unless you want it to lay differently, meaning more volume you don't need one. the dress looks great as is.

I like the way it currently lies - the a-line flares out nicely but isn't over the top.

If you do get a petticoat, you absolutely must get it before alterations and be sure to wear it underneath when you go to get your dress tailored, so it is hemmed to the correct length.

You should also consider the location and season of your venue - a petticoat is likely to be hotter than not wearing one, so I would factor that in as well.
