Phila / de 2020 Brides - Affordable venues for $10k est. 150ppl

Jazmine, on October 29, 2019 at 6:37 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 1 17

Hi! We were recently engaged and looking for affordable venues. We are open to all ideas in terms of venue full wedding packages vs. rental fees and working with a caterer. We also are OK with plated vs. buffet. We just would like a pretty setting and a big celebration party.

Any recommendations outside of VFW?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, Philadelphia is a rather expensive area. I am originally from PA and we got married in Scranton, PA which is about an hour and a half from Philly and we spent close to $8,000 for less than 100 people. I included a link below for a company that has 8 different wedding venues, but they don't list the pricing so you'd have to reach out to them. I am not sure where in Delaware you want to get married so I can't make any suggestions for Delaware.

Congratulations on your engagement Jazmine! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!!

Have you had the chance to check out the WeddingWire venue search tool? Here are the Pennsylvania Wedding Venues that are listed. You can filter this search to a more specific area, as well as adding your guest count, venue type and amenities included.

Are you hoping to have your ceremony and reception at the same location?

Thanks so much! We've been looking outside of Philly for sure! As for DE - I'm thinking Wilmington or Newark areas. I'm thinking it will save on tax and is close enough to Philly that it could be an option.

Not sure how far you want to travel, but there is a venue that offers a package for $50 per person in Pottstown, PA which is about an hour from Philly. The venue is The Sunnybrook Ballroom. It appears alcohol is an additional cost, but it would depend on what type you want and for how many hours.

Check out your local firehalls. They are affordable and sometimes have catering.

Hi! My brother recently got married at The Highlands which is greater Philadelphia region--was sooo beautiful, big grounds, old mansion, and reasonable price. They're open to different caterers so you can find what best suits you. We are getting married at the Morris Arboretum which is technically within Philly limits and they have I believe five different caterers, Company's Coming as the most reasonably priced (and who we booked). It's an Arboretum so of course beautiful grounds and they've been doing weddings a long time with great reviews. Maybe that helps? 🙏

We just attended a friend’s wedding at the Morris Arboretum. It was beautiful! It was on a Friday so they said they got a really good deal!

Yes, we're doing a Sunday and it's even cheaper on a weekday if you think that could work for your guests. But we also have a much shorter guest list, so catering will cost us less. There's multiple free ceremony spots and also some optional add-ons but nothing ridiculous. Good luck!

Hi Jeanette - thanks yes we are starting to consider the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, but seems those match Fridays so I think we may go that route. What are your recommendations for the free ceremony spots - I was interested in 18th century garden in old city, but I don't know if that will hold our guest count.

That would be great if you could make an "off" day work! And we have been favoring the Baxter's Memorial, which is a circular brick area surrounded by trees. But there's also two more free areas that are all grass and trees. A couple gardens but they're at an additional price. If you check Morris Arboretum weddings on Pinterest they can be just dreamy!

Thank you I've been meaning to get back to them - hopefully seeing this weekend. We've narrowed it down to possibly them or Philmont Country club.

Check out The WIlliam Penn Inn. They have packages. I'm having my March 2020 wedding there and my cousin had her wedding there years ago (and I didn't even realize, as I was living out of state and didn't attend). All great reviews.
