Photo Booth Dilemma!!

Kirsten, on December 4, 2020 at 1:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 12

So I'm wanting a photo booth at my wedding, but the "good ones" are all booked and I'm not wanting one of those actual little booths. I want a backdrop, props, and it to be open (covid will most likely still be a thing in 2021) so my guests aren't having to do 2 at a time, also I feel like, right now especially, it'd be a little unsanitary. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know i can get my own props and DIY backdrops and such, but whos going to take the photos? Is there a such thing as like a camera stand I can rent that takes the picutres?

You can buy backdrops/props at any party store or on amazon! As for the camera - I have seen people use their phones/an iPad (I saw this idea in a wedding video on YouTube)! I’m not sure if these are accessible to you or not, but there are compatible tripods for these devices & most of them have built-in timer cams! As a last resort, see if any of your friends/family have a camera they are willing to let you borrow! Good luck!

There's lots of companies on Instagram (that don't advertise elsewhere) that offer all of this, complete with props and attendant. Do a search for photobooths in your city and see what they can do for you.

Definitely an iPad/iPhone on a stand, I went to a wedding a few years ago that had that and it was fun. You can also add hand sanitizer right next to the iPad/iPhone with a sign so people use it before touching to be extra safe.

We're getting a mirror photo booth. Open with back drop and we'll have sanitizer for people to use beforehand. I actually don't remember if it comes with props though.

    I would forego props actually.

my friend owns a photobooth business and he tells his clients right now he is not offering props due to the pandemic.

Understandable this year. We will see come October next year. Props are pretty important, otherwise it wouldn’t feel like a photo booth to me.

Yes! There are event companies that offer equipment to rent for a photo booth. I would just put a sanitizer station next to the props

Amazon sells ring light camera holders. This will provide lighting for photos and also the ability to have people use their own phone. If you have a hashtag set up, they can post all their photos to you. Or you can use your phone and all the photos would be on your device and you could print the photos for your guests as part of the thank you cards that will go out.

Amazon also sells nice photo backdrops. I got one that is 10'x6' for $35. They also sell the frame to hang it. With the frame, backdrop and ring light I'd say it would be around $150-200 depending on how fancy of things you get.
I have had the frame for about 5 years and I pull it out every party we have and have even used it as a movie projector screen frame. So, yes... It Is a bit of an investment but it's something you can use more than once.

Check out weddingmix booth. I didn't use it but got several offers from them. then just buy your own props. Alternatively you can get a Polaroid and extra film and they can take pics of each other it will be a mingling point.
