Photo booth opinion

Megan, on November 4, 2017 at 1:52 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

What's everyone's opinion on paying for a professional photo booth versus a DIY one? My DJ offers a photo booth for 4 hours, unlimited prints with copies (one for us, one for guests), with props and an attendant for $500. This is the best deal I've seen in my area.

Do you think it's worth shelling out that much money or do you think FH and I should just buy props, a Polaroid, and a bunch of film for cheaper?

$500 is a really good deal, and depending on your budget, may be worth it not to have the hassle of a DIY photo booth. We did a DIY photobooth with my dslr camera, and figuring out how to get it set up and working was one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning. Also, H was fairly tipsy at one point in the evening and thought the pics were too bright (even though he knows nothing about lighting), so he stopped the flash down a bit. He was wrong about the brightness, and half the pictures ended up being dark. We LOVED our photobooth pics though, and it was totally worth the effort. We would have had to spend at least a $1000 to get a pro photo booth.

    Personal preference.

Will you be using the polaroid/Insta pic camera after wedding? If so, that's a smarter use of money.

If you'll never use it again, then do the photobooth and it will all be taken care of and easy.

If you have the means to do it, go for it! I've heard that guests love them!

We just aren't having a photo booth. I don't see the point of them.

Have you checked groupon for a better deal? They're usually a hit at weddings!

I think either way works and if you have someone who is willing to shoot the Photo Booth as a gift, that would be great. You may opt for an "open air" photo booth. Get a backdrop kit from Amazon.com for about $5-60, get a bolt of fabric from CV Linens.com, go to the 99 cents store and buy some cute stuff. You may have some old hats, eye glasses and funky scarves laying around that you could also use--ask your mom and grandmother - they keep stuff like boas and sequin scarves and old hats. I think you could do for for around $300, and it would have that sweet home-made feel. However, the $500 fee is not too bad considering they are providing everything and you don't have to lift a finger. Investigate and see what works. Also do s search on diy at pinterest.com they have fabulous ideas.

We're doing a DIY. we have an HP Sprocket printer that can be hooked to your phone by bluetooth/with an app and we're going to get props and let people print pictures for us... we wanted this kind of experience but the cheapest we found in our area is 700-800$ for 4 hours, and it just seemed unnecessary for us to spend that kind of money when we didnt need it. the Sprocket printer is only $150 and everyone has a smartphone.
