So I want to make my own photo booth with back drops and then set up a photo booth app on my iPad with a ring light.... would that be tacky ?

I’ve seen lots of people do their own photo booth. I’d YouTube it to make sure you’re doing it correctly.

Honestly if it goes with the flow of your wedding style I say do it!! Save yourself some money. I’d say the only thing you’d be missing out on would be your guests getting all the prints that they like to take as a keepsake. If you’re prepared to send everyone who took pictures to your guests then that’s not an issue. My dj had an add on to add a “photo booth” and it was essentially just that, a backdrop, a ring light, and some type of pad so I didn’t book it. But I did get this cool mirror photo booth thing Smiley smile

Not at all! My brother and sister-in-law had a close friend make them a backdrop and then they had a selfie stick and props for people to take photos with! It was a ton of fun and a big hit with most of the guests.

As far as being tacky, no, it isn't. Just be prepared for a few of the things that it will entail.

A photo booth from a professional generally includes an attendant, who will help guests take the photos and problem solve if something goes wrong. Done this way, your guests are on their own. If you have any older, not-very-tech-savvy guests, this is something to keep in mind.

Additionally, if it's your personal iPad, there is always a risk someone will accidentally damage it. This risk is understood and worked into vendor pricing (and often covered in an insurance plan), but for yourself, you might be replacing a several hundred dollar piece of personal property. It's unlikely, but it could happen.

Not trying to dissuade you, just noting things to be considered.

I never even thought of all the risk and how if something goes wrong I may not be around to help out and yes I don’t want my iPad or anything damaged ... this was very helpful thank you !
