Photobooths: In or Out?

Maggie, on March 5, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 95

Photobooths are a great source of entertainment and the pictures can do double-duty as favors, which is always a plus! Do you think photobooths are just a phase, or do you think they’re a new reception staple?

What’s your opinion? Is the photobooth trend in or out?

I think they're a new reception staple, but I also think they're overdone. Out for me!

I think they’re still in! But I also think it’s a know your crowd type of thing.

Not necessary - but I go IN! We had one and the guests loved it. But I don't look at this as a "trend" any more than I look at flowers, cake cutting or bouquet tossing as a "trend." It's just another "thing" you can choose to include or not.

I like photo booths but have never been a big fan of the props, idk I just feel like when we look back at our wedding photos we aren’t going to want to see people holding signs with funny sayings or wearing big sunglasses or hats hahaha. We weren’t going to bother spending money on a photo booth at all but since we are renting cameras from Wedit to get video coverage, we will probably be setting one of the cameras up on a selfie stick tripod with a remote clicker so it’ll be kind of a DIY photo booth!

I think they're super overdone. I've also never been a fan of the props, especially hats and items that go on your face. As someone that works in medicine I simply can't get past the germs / possible head lice . Sweat + dirty hands+ extremely used ( god knows how often washed) hats and masks = breeding ground for bacteria.

In, it's a good distraction for guests who want to take a break from dancing.

I feel like this is in for many people but I have never personally been a fan of photo booths.

Out for me. I've been to several functions recently that had them and they were barely used.

I work in research so bacteria tends to always be my first thought! I just think there are so many others fun/ creative ways to keep your guests entertained . We had a group called poems while you wait instead of a photo booth. You were able to give the poet any topic you'd like and they would have it typed out on an old-school typewriter within an hour or so . Our guests absolutely loved it. Not only was it interactive, but it was a personal keepsake.

I love the photobooth idea and I def think that it is something that is going to be around for a while, just depends on what your setting is... However, it is an out for me on the wedding day

In...but I think it has to be an actual photobooth not DIY to get used a lot, and this is a know-your-crowd thing.

In, but not the typical photobooth with the props like boas and masks. I think more of like a photographable area that someone would want to take photos at would be great!
