Photographer hasn’t given photos

Mae, on August 2, 2022 at 5:56 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 9
It has been 11 weeks since our wedding and I haven’t received any photos from our photographer. We hired him back in 2019 and due to delays from Covid finally had our wedding this year. The contract said we would receive our pictures 6-8 weeks and not even any previews. We texted him on the 8th week and he said in 2 more weeks we should have access to our gallery. Still nothing, and he hasn’t responded to our messages or hasn’t communicated at all.

I’ve started seeing other clients’ of his leaving reviews about how they haven’t received their photos either and it’s been more than the contractual time frame.
After 2020 he hasn’t been active on social media at all. At the time I didn’t think much of it because of Covid. I don’t know what to do anymore, I was hoping to avoid suing but it’s getting so frustrating the more recent bad reviews show up about him. Precovid he had glowing reviews, and he even did our engagement pictures that turned out amazing. Help a girl out 😭

This seemed to be common. I was married this May and have not received videos or photography. I was told up front that it takes about 3-4 months to receive them so I am patiently waiting.

Yes, unfortunately this is getting more common. I would give him another two weeks before you warn him of suing.

I would tread VERY lightly with how you talk to him- albiet he is 100% wrong in not replying and communicating with you.

If you threaten to sue, or threaten him in general, what if he never gives you your wedding photos? I know it must be absolutely painful not having your pictures back yet, but I would give him a total of 20 weeks before getting visibly upset with him. it seems post-covid that many, many photographers are going over their contractual obligations and unfortunately we just have to deal with it!

My wedding isn't until 9/10 but I do follow my photographer on social media and he posts constantly and often posts lists of who's photos he is editing next so couples can be up to date. I've googled to see when they've gotten married so I know he takes MONTHS to get them back to the bride/groom. I'm more concerned that your photographer isn't responding at all and isn't posting on social media at all. I might give him two more weeks and then choose another mode of communication. I don't know that I'd threaten a lawsuit quite yet, but you need some answers.. at least a response.

That’s good they let you know up front it’ll take 3-4 months! I wouldn’t mind waiting as long as there was good communication.

I agree! I think that’s why other clients haven’t been giving him bad reviews because they’re scared they’ll never get their pictures. I’ve already seen 2 reviews from his clients that they haven’t received their pictures. Their weddings were August 2021 and October 2021. That’s what’s making me nervous, he hasn’t communicated with them and I can’t imagine waiting almost a whole year.

Omg your photographer sounds amazing and super organized!!! I should have said in my post that other clients haven’t received their photos and their weddings were in August and October of last 2021. I have a feeling there are more clients who he is doing the same to but just haven’t voiced it out. Lawsuit is definitely the last thing I want to do!

That’s totally insane. My photographer seems to be already pretty quick with things. We did an engagement shoot with our wedding photographer and he said he would have previews in a week and we got them exactly a week later! That’s so concerning people have been waiting over a year. We’re paying this dude $6500 for wedding day so if he didn’t give us our photos I’d lose my mind

Not that I recommend a lawsuit, but the caution is that I would only state that I want to avoid a lawsuit. I wouldn't say I will sue (on such and such condition) unless I actually was ready and able to do so upon non-performance by that future date.
