Photographer mia

Hi guys! We booked and paid for our photographer in full already. On Sept 20 we set an engagement photoshoot for November, about 2 weeks from now. I haven't had any contact with the photographer since Sept 20. I emailed a week ago confirming the shoot and asking a couple of questions as we have never had a photoshoot done before. I've received no response. I emailed again 2 days ago and haven't received a response to that email either. After digging deeper I found HORRIBLE reviews about my photographer ghosting couples or taking their wedding photos and never delivering the pictures. Apparently multiple couples are in the process of suing her. I'm 100% worried that this is happening to me as there are a couple other minor red flags with her as well. Anyone have any advice? The contract seems pretty ironclad stating that the only way I can receive a refund is if the photographer cancels on us. Is there a way around this? I feel that ghosting a bride is essentially cancelling on them but not sure how that would legally hold up.

I have t dealt with this but it sounds like she took your money and ran. Usually the second half of the payment isn’t required until a week before or the day of - is there a reason you had to pay in full up front? That’d be my first red flag.

She was having a limited time sale and it was discounted extra if paid in full. I'm hoping to hear from her soon, if our engagement photo date passes with no word from her I feel that should be considered a breach of contract on her part as we had a scheduled service that she did not perform.

Do you have a contract? If you do tell them you will be pressing legal actions for fraud if they dont refund or shoot your wedding!

We do! That's definitely going to be mentioned to her. I'm giving her until the beginning of next week to respond (she's pregnant so I'm giving a grace period in case something happened, BUT also has another photographer under her so I feel that she at least could let brides know what's going on) and sending another email requesting our contract be voided and to be refunded.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you!! How terrible. When we were first engaged, I hired a photographer for both wedding and engagement. I told her up front I had an autoimmune disease and she'd need to work with us. She said,, " No problem." She lied. To make a long story short, she MADE us do our engagement shoot on a 35° day with a windchill in the low 20's (we live in Mississippi and that is really cold for us). She took over 300 photos and only 17 are good. We were guaranteed at least 50-75. AND my service dog, who was my heart, was getting old and I knew I'd not have him forever; and told her to make sure she had quite a few with him in it. We received 3 good pics with him. He passed away a few months after the shoot. Why am I telling this story? Our photographer did not have her heart in our shoot and it showed. Even if this MIA photographer shows up, which is sounding really iffy, again I'm so sorry, do you really want her doing your photos? Since you did pay in full, you may not have a choice if she shows. I pray this turns out for you and this person lives up to your contract. I'd like this time in your life to be as stress free as possible.

Wow, sounds like you had a bad experience as well! So sorry Smiley sad So sorry to hear about your pupper Smiley sad And honestly, you're right. She doesn't have our best interest in mind and clearly does not care about us. So even if I do hear from her, I'm not sure I still want to work with her regardless.

I'm part of a Facebook group for displeased brides in my state for this reason. I've seen a ton of stuff on there where photographers will advertise these types of "great deals!" if you pay in full then will ghost you once they have your money. I'm so sorry this is happening to you and I personally feel like now is a great time to possibly ask an attorney if her not showing up for an engagement shoot would put her in breach of the contract. Now sounds like a good time to look into other photographers who care more about their clients.

Thank you so much! ❤ I felt I had to share. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You have enough to deal with without someone like this in your life disrupting everything!! Best wishes....always.
