Photographer not responding

Virginia, on March 27, 2020 at 6:43 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5
Hey ladies! So I’m in a pickle and I would love some advice.

I have hired our photographer for our wedding in October. She is the first thing I nailed down and at first was super responsive. In the wake of this COVID-19 issue, we have had to and will have to again, reschedule my engagement photos. But even before that when scheduling the time to meet about them, she was extremely hard to get in touch with. I am very easygoing, but people are so quick to disappoint and I am very much a planner anyway, and what should be solved in a quick text, results in me having to text, email, and email again for a response. She always gets with me on it, but it’s usually day of and I just think it’s inconvenient. I don’t want to be annoying, but she is paid in full and I’m starting to feel stressed about her lack of response time. I absolutely don’t want to be a brat, but I feel like, especially during a time like this, it’s very important to be available for your brides. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! My thoughts are with you ladies that are struggling with much bigger things in their wedding planning right now. ❤️

That is super frustrating but I would try and be understanding. Like you said, there’s a lot going on right now and it’s likely that she’s dealing with rescheduling lots of weddings (in addition to engagement shoots, maybe family portraits etc). I don’t think she should be leaving rearrangement to the day of. Instead of a text or email maybe set up a time for a phone call instead so you can express your concerns. Best of luck!

Ugh, our caterer did this to us and we ended up firing her. She would take 2 weeks to answer e-mails and never responded to phone calls. We had to fight for out deposit, it was a nightmare.

However, I believe this is a VERY different situation. I'm sure she has a lot happening all at once... She now has to coordinate and schedule weddings in between events that she already had scheduled prior. I can only assume she is scrambling to accommodate all the brides that were a month out. Once she knows for sure when she can fit your engagement session in between the newly re-scheduled weddings, I'm sure she will reach out to you! Best Wishes

Hi Virginia, have you been able to reach her since you first posted this? I'm sure they are swamped and in crisis mode but I hope they reach out soon for your peace of mind. When is your engagement shoot supposed to be?

Hey! I did finally hear back. Turns out she got stuck in CA due to the virus and had to drive back across the country to NC. Poor thing has had all of her weddings move so she said she has a clear schedule. Our photos are scheduled for this coming Monday, but got moved to June! Fingers crossed salons are back open by then because I'm already starting to look rough. Smiley xd
