Okay ladies, I've officially booked with a photographer that requires a deposit. Thank you for your help!!!

Ours did. But we did sign a contract stating that so it’s all in writing.

Yes, ours did. He jas bern doing business that way for 30+ years and it works for him. His wife is also a photographer but never goes to events and does in shop, editing and printing, as well as him. All initial pics on CD, a print of each in 2 weeks, did all multicopies, and different sizes and albums in a little less than a month from the wedding. He does not book until 6 months out or less. If you have credit, no payment til wedding day. Has not advertised at all except used to in the phone book, for decades. All referrals from past customers, and venues. Not bad business. Small town, and does not want to have a presence, just the work. Our Inn venue, and the day care person wr found for our nursery room, referred us to him. At 4 months. We had a 5 month engagement.

I'm a wedding photographer as a side job, and I've allowed couples to pay the day of, but that's if they weren't able to put down the deposit for one reason or another.

No matter what though, I won't show up without a signed contract, for both of our protection. Sounds weird.
