Photographer/videographer

Lisa, on July 14, 2021 at 12:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Why am I struggling to find a combo. I want 2 photo shooters and a videographer in one package deal and 8 hrs at least. Reasonably priced. Am I asking for to much? Help me. It's honestly stressing me out. Thanks

A bride in need of sources.

It might be difficult to find a vendor if you're wanting all three to be from the same company/vendor. Since photographers and videographers are their own separate category, they usually do their services individually as well.

Instead of trying to find one vendor to do all three, I'd search for them individually. Find a photographer that offers a second shooter in their package, and that will be there for 8 hours. Same for the videographer. Compare and contrast prices, and also include the travel fee cost if they would have any! We found all of our vendors through Google and social media, so I'd start there! The Knot and WW are also good places to look for vendors in your area!

What is reasonably priced? I know there are some larger photography companies that offer videographer services but usually you don’t get to choose a specific person as the photographer/videographer and needing those services for 8 hours isn’t going to come cheap. In my area those services individually would cost $2,000+.

Reasonable is relative... depends on where you live.

For reference, I'm getting married near Austin Texas, and the costs for photo/video packages are:

    Company 1-

    photo 6 hours $2095

    photo 7 hours $2895

    video 2.5 hours (3-5 minute video) $975

    video 5 hours (3-5 minute video) $1680

    video 7 hours (6-8 minute video) $1850

    Company 2-

    photo 6 hours $1349

    photo 8 hours $1599; 2nd shooter $350

    photo 10 hours $1849; 2nd shooter $450

    video 6 hours $1349 (4-6 minute video)

    video 8 hours $1599 (4-6 minute video)

    video 10 hours $1849 (4-6 minute video)

    photo/video 6 hours $2549

    photo/video 8 hours $2949

    photo/video 10 hours $3449

It might be easier if you hired them separately, especially if it's a smaller company (like ours), they rarely specialize in both. I would recommend hiring your photographer first, and asking them to recommend a good videographer. Chances are, they know a few since they work in the same industry, and they know which ones they work well with.
