Photographs of guests eating?

Michelle, on July 31, 2021 at 6:39 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Is this common? I was reading on another site to make sure that you ask your photographer to capture guests at their tables. Seems like a strange thing to film when there are many other opportunities at the wedding to film everyone in attendance.

Our photographer got a group photo at each table, but in between courses so no one was eating when she was taking those photos. It’s nice because it enabled us to have a photo of every guest that attended our wedding. Without table photos, I doubt that would have happened for us.

I don’t think it’s common. I usually see photographers, videographers and Dj’s eating when the guests are eating. Maybe a table shot before the meal is served is what they were referring to - seems like an easy & quick way to capture everyone!

I believe our videographer has a clause in the contract they do not film during dinner service. I would think its the same for the photog.

It all depends I guess... Our photographer ate with us, but once finished, he decided to find some occupation ;-) He didn't take pictures of people actually eating, but he made a lot of very nice portraits of them at the table.

Meal but did lots of table shots. That is where most spent the majority of their time.

Lol, nobody likes photos of themselves eating. We had our photographer leave at dinner time. We didn’t have dancing or a cake so we didn’t need after-dinner photos. But you could also feed your photographer at that time and give them a break, then they can film dancing, cake, etc.

They probably meant like a group picture at the table, not of the guests actually eating.

I went to a wedding where the bride and groom ate first and then went around and did group shots with each table, while greeting them, that way they knew they had a picture with every person.

This is what we are doing. We will receive all of our courses at once while everyone else will get theirs one course at a time so we can finish & visit tables. Our photographer & videographer will eat while we are eating & then capture us visiting tables.

Maybe it's just the phrasing, but "guests at tables" and "guests eating" definitely isn't the same thing. Our photographer got group shots of each table with us as we were going around, but also got some more candid shots of people at their tables socializing. None of the pictures showed the guests eating, though.

Never heard of that. Our photographers will be eating while the guests are eating, which is pretty standard, no?

I think it would be nice if the Photographer and or Videographer passed by to see guest enjoying their food. But I don't think they should put to much time into it, I don't think it would hurt much.
