Hey everyone!

FH and I just got our first quote for photography from our venues preferred vendor list. The price really caught us off guard as, to us, at least it seemed super expensive. All the other preferred vendors we reached out to are within our budget range, except this first photography. (It ranges 6k-9k)
I’m trying to not worry too much as it’s just the first photo vendor that has gotten back to. Though, we were wondering if maybe we just didn’t budget right and it’s really starting to stress me out. We put the prices into our expense tracker and it puts us way above budget. I guess I never realized how pricey photography could actually be, especially when it come to specific packages I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance that we didn’t screw up our budget.How much are you budgeting and looking for in a photographer?

Yikes! That's crazy expensive. I paid $1600 for full day with 2 shooters. We got about 200 edited photos plus a thumb drive with the thousands of unedited photos. The photos were beautiful and he was a pleasure to work with. I'm in NJ, about 40 minutes outside Manhattan.

Omg, that's crazily expensive! Keep in mind that you don't have to use their preferred vendors. My venue also has a list of preferred vendors. I didn't like their list not only for the price, but also the style. Try looking for someone out of town.

Looks like you're in LA! I know some people gave you suggestions, but I'm going to recommend https://www.madelinebarr.com/. She quoted us $4,000 for 6 hours + a second shooter who will be photographing alongside her for 4 hours, plus a 2 hour engagement shoot. I used to be a wedding videographer and worked with a lot of photographers so I know that a great photographer will be pricey, BUT to me $4,000. is a GREAT price. Especially in a big city like LA. We haven't done our engagement shoot yet, but her work is great. Check her out!
