Here’s my dilemma… my photographer is $2,500 (including both engagement and wedding). With that being said, how much is your photographer charging you? What do you think I should do?

That is a standard price for event photography. There is more involved than just taking pictures. Price depends on your location and the level of expertise of your photographer. So you can pay less for a student but photos are all you have at the end of the day beyond memories that fade.

Pretty sure ours is closer to $7k, and that wasn't the most expensive quote we got.
There will always be people who think you're spending too much on various elements - my boss told me his whole wedding cost $5k and was appalled by how expensive things are these days, but we're not getting married in 1921, we're getting married in 2021, and things cost what they cost.
If you are paying for this yourselves, then their opinion is just that - an opinion. I'd just... stop telling them what things cost.

I did alot of research into photographers and they vary so widely on price - from $800 to 5k starting! You're paying a pretty standard price.
