Photos before or after wedding ceremony?

Lynnie, on July 24, 2019 at 12:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

When are you taking pictures with your wedding party and future spouse?? đź“·

Are you doing a "first look" with your fiancé(e) so you can get those photos done before the ceremony? Or are you taking all of your pictures after the ceremony?

Doing a first look! I'd love to get as many pictures as possible before the wedding. Waiting to hear back from my photographer with a timeline to see how many we can squeeze in before the ceremony.

We're doing a first look and then photographs with the bridal party/family before the ceremony. I've been to weddings where the cocktail hour has lasted longer then it was supposed to because of photographs after the ceremony. Besides, I'd rather mingle with my guests during cocktail hour and not feel bad if I miss seeing someone during the reception.

We'll be taking our photos after the ceremony. My fiance expressed that he doesn't want to do a first look. He wants to be surprised when he sees me walking down the aisle. I kind of wanted to do one but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. This is one of few things that he's been opinionated in so I'll let him have it.

We're doing as many as we can before the wedding - we want to spend as much time with family/friends as possible.

We are doing a first look, getting as many photos done before the ceremony. After the ceremony we will take a few family photos. I want to enjoy my cocktail hour and spend as much time with my guests as possible as I barely see anyone since I moved.

    Both.
    Bridesmaids and I.
    Groomsmen and fiance before.

    Entire wedding party after.

I dont like the first look idea, and its important to me that we take some time to ourselves and our closest friends to soak in the day a little before we go back.

I was adamant about not doing first look photos when we first started planning, until I found a photographer. She loves shooting them and feels like there is a more genuine reaction than when standing in front of a hundred people, that sometimes grooms feel like they need to keep it together while standing at the alter. Knowing my fiance, I actually couldnt agree more and I think he would be more reactive with just us and a photographer.
Nothing is finalized yet, but we will likely do first look photos, and photos with our bridal party offsite before our ceremony.

After because we have the whole "first look" trend. Pics with FH and the guys and myself and my ladies before, pics of all of us after. It's all at the same venue so guests won't have to wait to long

We will do his family/ groomsmen and my family/ bridesmaid before, but separately. No first look.

Photos of us together will be after the wedding. I personally want the shots of us together to be of us as husband and wife.

We are doing a first look and plan on getting most of the photos done before the ceremony. However, we will take some after also during the cocktail hour.

Absolutely no first look. We are both terribly superstitious.

Besides, our venue is really close to the High Line in NYC, so we'll go take pictures there for some quiet time with our BP after the ceremony.

We weren't going to do a first look because I always thought of him seeing me walk down the aisle would be amazing. Then we thought of the timeline, since it's October we want to get as many pictures in as we can especially of our wedding party and us. I want to be able to go to our cocktail hour and eat that food and see our guests. Plus doing a first look we could def have some time to our selves before the ceremony and reception
