It is actually very beautiful. People get married there a lot.

I am on a very tight budget. My fiance and I have 2 kids. Our toddler has asd. We have to put money in other places. So there that is...

Anyway, I was trying to come up with ways to save money on it. I could cut out chair and table rental completely if we had a picnic wedding.

I told fmil about this and she brought it to my attention that her grandfather back in the day donated land to a church and the church will let her borrow chairs and tables. I was thinking that was great. I can save money and keep tables.

The problem is I already pinned a million picnic ideas and I still love the idea.

So what do you think about a picnic wedding?

Last pic is the place for the ceremony

Those are cute pictures, but in IRL I would hate this. Sitting on the ground for long periods of time is just not comfortable. My butt would be hurting so bad at the end I would want to leave early. I believe someone mentioned this, but if you have older guests or guests with arthritis this would be difficult and even more uncomfortable for them.

I would decline to attend this wedding--I'm 24 and even I don't have a body that can accommodate this (my knees don't allow me to sit Indian style and my back needs support). Chairs should be a priority. Cut elsewhere.

A big bag of nope. I want a chair and a table, not a blanket on the ground with the foliage and the bugs.

No...no...nope...no way. Even if you can guarantee it will not be wet, you can't get rid of bugs. I get eaten alive by bugs . This is one of those things that looks cute in pictures and is going to be terrible in practice.

Yeah, this wouldn't work. Honestly, I didn't even know picnic weddings were a thing and I'm constantly on Pinterest. It just seems like there'd be so much that could go wrong. Also, I have no ass and my but gets sore pretty quickly when sitting on the ground, even if it's grass.

I would not make my grandmother eat food on the ground at my wedding

Pictures are cute but no one wants to eat on the ground at a wedding. But what are you really saving because you have to get all the pillows and blankets.

I would opt for tables and chairs for the many reasons various posters have mentioned, but you could still do the BBQ you mentioned. Maybe use picnic blankets as your table clothes? Use picnic baskets to house other things if needed.

If you're getting the chairs and tables for free, please use them.

I would never expect to dress up for a wedding just up sit on the ground. As cute as it sounds it does not seem like a good idea in the long run based on people's attire and trying to eat and socialize

If you are looking to keep costs down, I would reevaluate this idea. You will need a backup plan for cover (what if it rains?), way to keep food and drink at the appropriate temperature. Are you having music? Are you going to need to rent that equipment and hire someone?

Even if you aren't, you'd save more money cutting the list and having everyone out for dinner afterwards, I would think. The cost alone of renting what you may need (at LEAST cover) is likely going to be a lot more than you think.

Pinterest makes everything look cute. I think your guests might not like this one for more than a few minutes.

I would not be comfortable sitting on the ground and eating for a wedding. I'm having my wedding at a park as well but we've rented chairs and a tent (tables and chairs for inside the park building are included, and we've rented additional for the ceremony).

I'd go, but throw a beach chair in my car. Can't stand no support for that long.

It's a cute Pinterest idea but in reality it would be very uncomfortable. Definitely go for tables and chairs.

It is an absolutely cute idea, but I'm not sure how comfortable everyone would be on the ground. Personally, I would be fine with it.

I am assuming the food is catered? Please get tables and chairs. I ABSOLUTELY hate eating without a table.
