I am in a venue where you can't put anything on the walls or hang anything from the ceiling. The venue is a community center so there are ugly exit signs and historical photos on some of the walls.. it totally clashes with my tropical theme. The venue is a community center so there are ugly exit signs and historical photos on some of the walls.. it totally clashes with my tropical theme. I have been looking for photos of other receptions but they can all hang things and drape so I can't replicate them. Anyone have this same predicament and collected or took photos of your venues? HELP! This is a photo of someone else wedding at my venue... it looks sooo plain...

I think that your venue is a great backdrop for a tropical theme wedding with the colors (cream/sand) and the wood. I think that once you fill the room with people, your cake table, dj, buffet tables etc. you might not notice the pictures on the walls or the stuff that you don't like.

Not to be mean but I don't like the blue tablecloths in your venue photo. I think that a lighter tablecloth or even a brown overlay would look more elegant and a pop of color in the centerpieces with a few candles.

Seconding the draping for some of the historic signage. BUT, definitely check with your venue about trying to cover some of the EXIT signs. Those are for safety reasons and OSHA probably wont allow those to be covered no matter what you do. Each exit will probably also need a certain amount of space around it for free movement in order to meet OSHA and fire dept safety guidelines.

Agreed- blue is NOT one of my colors. The ginger in your photo are actually my plan for bouquets. I am more of either crip white w lush tropical greenery or the cream, greenery and tropical flowers like ginger etc. I think going with the current decor of the venue (and the genius idea of photoshopping out the signage and photos I don't like) with lights and uplights I will be fine... I am just in the typical overthinking while planning trap! hahaha

I didn't read all the way through all the comments so I apologize if this has already been answered, but can you hang/drape anything from the balcony? It would be really easy to do in a way that doesn't damage anything.

I can! But other than lights I wasn’t getting any good ideas on my own- do you have any?

Maybe some draped greenery or garland?

There is so much you can do to dress the space up!! But I definitely think linens and lighting will make a big difference and not cost a ton. Target usually has good after Christmas sales too!!
