Pie Bar instead of cake???? Opinions???

Keillie, on June 1, 2013 at 7:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

We are getting married in a barn/rustic setting. Ceremony is under an old oak tree. Seating will be on hay bales covered in fabric. Reception is in the barn on the same property. I was thinking that instead of a cake, we would do a Pie Bar???? Opinions????

Love the idea of a pie bar? Because I'm greedy, what types of pie would you be serving?

I'm thinking you should have several kinds of pie. At least 3.14159... LOL

    Seriously, sounds great to me!

I know someone who did this and it was amazing! You can get pie stands as well so it looks like a wedding cake!

That actually sounds pretty cool! I wouldn't mind having pie at all. Maybe get a small cake for you and fh so you can get some pictures cutting it.

Sounds very tasty! Just make sure you have some variety so everyone can pick their favorite.

I've seen it done before and I think it fits perfectly with a rustic wedding.

I'd do French silk, apple, cherry, lemon meringue

For summer pumpkin is probably a little heavy

I love cake, but I would love to attend a wedding with a pie bar. Sounds like fun and perfect for your "theme".

You must have changed your wedding date?

Sounds like a cool idea. My family aren't big cake eaters but we love us some pie.

I prefer pie over cake! And I think its super sweet for your theme/setting. Totally go for it hun!

Depending on what season your wedding will be in you can also play into that as well.

Fresh berry pies for the summer or pecan, apple, pumpkin for the fall.

I'll only condone it if you have pecan pie or sweet potato pie...and if you tell me where to be and what time..k thanks.

Seriously though, I think that's a great idea.

Thanks guys, I was really not sure about whether my guests would go for it, but I think now I'm all in!! And yes, you can all come for a slice or two! Smiley winking

I dont know how to change my "wedding date" on this site. I signed up for it before we set a date, so NO,...I am not married yet. Date is Sept 21st.
