Pigeon Forge vs The Poconos!

Jennifer, on November 13, 2013 at 4:28 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 24

FH and I have been thinking about our honeymoon lately. At first we were thinking of staying in a cabin in Pigeon Forge TN. Today I was looking at the Poconos in PA. Did anyone go there? Do they prefer one or the other? What resort did you stay at in the Poconos? Any other advice is appreciated!

Thanks ladies!

I've never been to the Poconos, but have been to Pigeon Forge several times and my FH and I LOVE it there! There is so much to do and see! We, personally, are going to Charleston for the honeymoon, because it's somewhere we have both never been.

Let us know what you choose!

I have been to Pigeon Forge several times as well. My dad and step mom got married there and we took a couple vacations there. FH has been there once. Neither of us have been to the Poconos but my dad and step mom love it there! Such a hard choice!

I love Pigeon Forge TN! The log cabin resorts are so nice, secluded, they come fully equipped, hot tub, whirlpool, and some have gamerooms. Great for couples or a group of couples. So I think it would be nice. I have been there 4 times!

We live about 2-3 hours from Poconos, and I've never been. We live 12hrs from Pigeon Forge, and we've both been there! hahah I asked my hubs because he's been to the Poconos and he says there's more to do in Pigeon Forge. The Poconos are mainly for skiing, not much to do in May because it's not really summer either. Jim Thorpe is a cute little town that would keep you occupied for 2-3 days.

    eta: I vote Pigeon Forge!

My sister went to the Poconos on her honeymoon and hated it. She ended up contracting ecoli from one of the restraunts. Another family friend went there for their honeymoom and came home early because it was a terrible time. Maybe it would be better for you guys though?

They are both really nice. I would probably chose Pigeon Forge personally, because I love Tennessee. The Poconos are not too far from me, and it's easier to get there if I want to. Tennessee is more like a special destination to me. But think about how much time and money you want to spend on travel as well.

Thanks so much ladies. They are both about 8 hours from me. I am thinking were leaning more towards Pigeon Forge. They have so much more to choose from, cabin wise.

I've been to the Poconos just because I live in PA. It's gorgeous. Never been to Pigeon Forge.

Jim Thorpe is absolutely adorable. I have never seen a cuter town. I agree though, that the Poconos would appeal to me more in the fall/winter than spring/summer.

However, I think I'd rather tell someone I honeymooned in the Poconos rather than saying Pigeon Forge, but then I have an irrational fear of birds LOL

We have stayed in Sevierville, TN which is very close to PF and loved it. If you go there, take a helicopter ride. It was amazing!

We live at the "gateway to the Poconos" one block from the Appalachian trails. Honestly IMHO I have no idea what people find so interesting in the Poconos that they would actually plan a traveling vacation to come here (unless you like to ski or hike as there are some beautiful trails).

I would second (third?) Jim Thorpe is a quaint town that we enjoy visiting, and there are some resorts that are beautiful and well maintained but there are also so many that are showing their age and haven't updated from their heydays 30-40 years ago.

Maybe it's one of those things that you don't really appreciate it because you see it every day.

I have been to both in the last 5 years....there is way more touristy things to do in Pigeon Forge. WAY WAY MORE! Poconos you would get more privacy. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg you could probably find an awesome private cabin with hot-tub on deck in the mountains. I vote Pigeon Forge!
