We are doing a pizza for the main meal at our reception! We found a caterer that makes and cooks them on site so guests can customize! Fits our personalities well and saving us money. One thing I recommend is going heavy on appetizers for a greater variety!

I would think you could do the theme of Alice in Wonderland better with a Tea Party - little sandwiches and pastries, tea and lemonade, that kind of thing. I don't see how pizza goes with your theme.

Sounds yummy, but some things to consider:

Are they making them on site? Will they get cold? How many people? How long will they be waiting? How will you accomodate allergies (such as dairy)?

Also, keep in mind, a pizza bar done right may not necessarily be cheaper.

We considered it but were concerned how to keep x amount of pizzas hot for long enough for dinner. and if someone is making them to order, how fast can they make them? will there be a long line of hungry people? Also depending on where you buy it it might not be cheaper. I like the idea of a tea party suggested above for an alice in wonderland themed wedding

Agree with MissiePanda - our caterer told us it will take over an hour to feed all of our guests! Hence why we are going appetizer heavy and having a more cocktail style reception! We are playing with the idea of sit down for toasts with appetizers at each table but no formal dinner sit down.

Teagan, I love that. One of my venues here doe appies at the table and the guests love it.

Pizza and a tea party theme don't go together, I'm sorry.

Tea sandwiches mini desserts, afternoon; that works.

Its a cool idea.. we did that for our sons 1st bday party. And we had about 80 guest. The owner came with his huge pizza oven. Couldn't keep up with enough pizza for everyone to get their fill. We also had two big crockpots of chili and hotdogs as well. We tried to do personal pizza orders. But we just ended up making the basic ones to get more out quickly. That being said, definitely have something else to help feed your guest as they wait.

We are doing wood fired pizza! Our caterer makes them on site and we are having appetizers and pepperoni bread.

I think your vision of how this would work versus the logistics and reality will end up being something you will be very, very disappointed with, and I don't see it being a money saver if done right.

I also don't see how pizza = Alice in Wonderland, which incidentally, is a fairly common wedding theme.

I'd be all about gourmet pizzas, and assuming your "theme" is just light touches as it should be, I don't think the food necessarily has to be a part of it.

I would be all about a wedding with a pizza bar. Hell to the yes! And I'm literally making a pizza in the oven as we speak.

    I LOVE Teagan's idea.

We're doing a pizza bar, but we know pizza itself will not be enough. Consider adding a pasta buffet, salads, etc. Also, this probably won't cut costs as much as you think it will. Especially if its properly catered. You can't bring pizza hut to your wedding and expect it to hold up.

I would say this could be a cute idea if it is an afternoon wedding - but they would have to be gourmet pizzas and would have to be super fresh and super hot. If it is evening then I would be disappointed as a guest, I can get pizza any day. And I'm also kind of lost on tea party theme and pizza

ETA: I think a pizza bar would be great for a late night snack as well!

I would love pizza as long as it was gourmet style and not like dominoes. Also I think it was be good to add some different appetizers and salads.

Thanks for all the feedback !!!!! Sorry for posting it multiple times I'm not too tech saavy. anywhooooo I originally thought about sandwiches and pastries but we just love pizza. Our decorator has more of a new age spin on alice in wonderland so our tea party is really edgy neon lots of wild flowers and mushrooms !
