Place Card Templates

Randi, on October 6, 2016 at 11:59 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

I have tried the Avery one and I can't get it to do more than one page at a time. Has anyone found a good, user friendly DIY place card template? Thanks in advance!

    Have you tried Microsoft Word?

Yes - the colors and designs do not work for our wedding. I was hoping for a blank or basic one. The heart scroll is pretty but the color is wrong and you cannot change it.

I used Avery and did one at a time. A little tedious but it worked. I saw that they have a mail merge option, so if you know how to do them you could do it that way

Do you have access to Photoshop or InDesign?

Page Ms. CK on your title or find her Google help post. She's awesome at finding things like that!

@CJ tips on InDesign for place cards? I never thought of that and I have the program for school.

@Randi It's an adobe software program. You can us it for so many different design projects (posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers and books). I highly recommend it!

@Kaitlyn I actually prefer InDesign over Photoshop. This is how I've done it in the past:

    File > New > Document

Set the number of pages to 2 and make sure that 'facing pages' isn't checked. Also make sure the document is in landscape orientation.

I set the margins to 5mm with a bleed of 3mm

Use the 'A-Master' to set your ruler guidelines

Drag a vertical guide from the left-hand ruler to the center point of the page

Drag a second guide from the top ruler to the horizontal center of the page

And start designing!! I hope this makes sense Smiley smile

It may not be the best way, but it's worked for me!

I helped my mom do those avery ones for her wedding...ended up getting frustrated and just saved each page as a separate document.

First I made one that was just the blank template, saved it, and then every time I filled out a paged saved it under "save as" so I could save the new copy separately from the blank template.

@tgoldie, that's where I was heading. Hi @CJ!!! They have a free trial so I might just try that. Did you use the avery prescored cards or plain cardstock and cut them yourself?

@Randi I just used good ol' cardstock and a paper cutter Smiley smile. I'm sure you could work with the dimensions of the avery prescored cards if you already purchased those though.
