How will your guests know where to sit at the reception? Did you decide to go with place cards, escort cards, or a seating chart?
While they can all sound interchangeable - they're actually different!
Place cards are set up at the guest's individual seat, and let your guests know which specific seating assignment they have at that reception table. If you decide to go with place cards, you might also want to provide escort cards or a seating chart to let your guests know which table they're seated at before they find their specific seat. Place cards can also be really helpful if your venue needs to know who is eating which entree!
Escort cards tell your guests their reception table assignment! They are typically set up at cocktail hour or on the way into your reception, and guests can grab their card and take it with them.
Seating charts do the same job as escort cards and inform your guests of their table assignment!
And to make things a little more confusing...none of these options have to be physical cards! You can use favors to do double-duty, or get creative!
Which option are you going with?
