Place Settings...pretty {and cheap}

Ednabug, on December 3, 2011 at 3:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 32

I know the discussion was brought up the other day about real vs. plastic

I got these plastic plates from the Dollar Tree Deals store. they are the hard plastic white with a silver ring. Very sturdy. {104 plates for $35.00} I also am using the metallic silverware, which I got from a local restaurant store {50 pieces for 43.00}. The napkin rings I got from orientaltrading.com {48 pieces for $3.00}

I really wanted the rings because I used a "love" sticker to seal our wedding invitations and the script is exactly the same...not that guests will probably pick up on that, but that's the anal side of me, LOL

    We did plastic and I promise, if you went back and asked our guests if we had china or plastic they wouldn't be able to answer. I think it looks great. Good Job!

    Your venue and / or caterer is not providing your service pieces? i have to say, they look nice in the picture and the love sticker is adorable... i just dont understand why you would have to buy your own plates / linen / silver?

    Ashlee...the venue is a hall. It's not an all inclusive place. They provide the space, tables and chairs. I'm not having a hotel reception or other type of place that has a choice of table settings.

    as far as catering...we are having family and friends cook, so that's why we have to buy our own. We didn't have to buy linens because fh's mom borrowed them from her church.

    and the love is not a sticker...its a napkin ring...the sticker is what I used on the invitations.

    Gotcha gotcha gotcha --- i love the silver and white - it looks really elegant together... and i love that the napkin ring is similar to the seal on your invitations... i would totally notice and appreciate that! great work girly!!

    This is too cute! Are these plates available online? I haven't seen them at my dollar tree yet and my job blocks anything related to online shopping. Also, this may be a silly question, but my family is cooking our food also. Are you doing the plates at their seats and they carry them to the buffett? I'm just wondering if I should do actual place settings or just leave plates stacked by the food.
