Plane Tickets under married or maiden name?

Krista, on March 19, 2014 at 8:49 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

So I am getting ready to book our plane tickets for our honeymoon and started thinking…do I book my ticket under my maiden name or my married name? Obviously my driver’s license and passport will still have my maiden name, so should plane ticket be in my maiden name as well?

Your photo ID and tickets will need to match.

Unless you will already have the others changed then your plane ticket needs to match the identification you will have as proof of ID

You are going to need to book everything under your maiden name. You aren't going to have an ID with your married name on it and the airport doesn't know you personally. Same with hotels because your credit cards will be under your old name still. Until you go through the paperwork to have everything changed you are still legally known by your maiden name.

Maiden. All of your documents have to match. If you aren't changing your name until AFTER you get back from your honeymoon, everything needs to be in your current name.

I did all of mine in my maiden name as my passport will not be updated nor my license when we leave. That'll be my headache to come home to along with changing everything over.....ugh!

Also, as an F.Y.I you have up to a year to change the name on your Passport to your married name WITHOUT a fee. Any changes you make after a year will result in you having to apply for a renewal passport and you will have to pay the renewal cost which is now the same cost as applying for a new passport. I just wanted to share this information because many brides may not be aware of this.
