Planning 3 years ahead

Shannon, on June 22, 2021 at 9:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Has anybody planned so far ahead? We've been engaged since 2015. In-between we've had 2 more children and broke up. We've how been back together for a year, but I'm starting nursing school in the spring of 2022. So we're planning for after I graduate.

You can find many threads of other brides doing this. We got engaged 1/2021 and our date is set for 10/2023. So almost a three year engagement.

When I was in nursing school I had a few friends planning their wedding during. 0/10 stars. Do not recommend. 😂

We got engaged on 1/11/19 and our original date was 10/10/20. But we postponed to 10/30/21. So our engagement will be an excessively long 34 months. Obviously, the pandemic played a role in the length of our engagement. But, under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t recommend 3 years because it’s way too dragged out. We wanted an October wedding. So when we postponed, it was the right decision due to the pandemic. But, outside of a deadly pandemic, I wouldn’t have a three-year engagement for any other reason. 😩 😖😣

We did!! We got engaged July 2020, and our wedding won't be until January 2022.

There were a lot of people questioning why we decided to wait so long, but we're so glad we did because our state's opened up, and we won't have to change anything due to covid!

So we got in engaged in April 2017, set a date in March 2019 for October 2020 which turned into October 2021 because of Covid. So that’s 2.5 years of actually planning. I don’t think you would need that much time, or even the 2.5 years we’ve been planning, to plan but it gives you plenty of time research vendors and budget/save. Our reasons to wait so long to even pick a date had nothing to do with anything other than trying to figure out how to pay for what we wanted. Once my fiancé landed a great job at a casino we were ready. It just took us a while to get where we were comfortable. Live your life at your pace, it’s not race.
