I planned my wedding with out a planner. Just get a binder and stay organized. You got this.

I planned mine without either a planner or DOC. Guess what, I had no big issues, except part of my cake was damaged by sliding off the girls seat when she was in a near accident. I was more worried about my friend than the cake. We still had a nice looking cake with 2 less tiers than planned, and plenty left over. I was not pissed about it, sad for her because she was so upset she missed the big event. All of my vendors showed up and did their job. NO issues noted.

@susan - how big was your wedding? Guest count and bridal party. I am not going to do a DOC either and would love some feedback

225 guests, formal, evening wedding. 4 person photography/videography team, 12 piece band, décor/floral company had about 8 employees there, to set-up. Very little DIY. My mother did most of the planning. Hubby and I made all the decisions. Didn't need a DOC, with a full service, hotel venue (100 years in business). They assigned a banquet manager, who had 2 assistants, dining room captain, bandleader with 30 years experience, etc.

We've been in the bridal parties of two weddings with planners and they had major screw-ups. At another one, we wondered why the chose to hire a planner (budget priority), when not much was put into guest hosting (food).

My FH and I have been the only ones planning our wedding. We're not even having a DOC- I know, we're quite the daredevils lol!

I don't have the help of a planner. I think the best thing is to find a venue to have your ceremony/reception at, or just reception and they have people to help coordinate things with you.

I didn't have a wedding planner & everything turned out exactly how I wanted. BUT I absolutely could not have done it without my day of coordinator!

Yes. I had no planner, and also no Day-of -Coordinator. My day was perfect.

I don't have a wedding planner but I think my venue comes with a DOC. I think they call it a captain.

I'm not using a planner. Luckily my venue included decor, tables, linens, catering, cake, pretty much everything besides the Dj and photographer. So I had very little to do on my own. But I am strongly considering getting a doc to just make sure everything goes smoothly.
