Anyone look into things before you’re even engaged? I know it’s coming, but I’m just so excited and I like to be prepared!! 🤣🤣

I’m so glad you think the same way. I think a couple of my friends thought I was crazy for it lol. My dad is paying for ours, and he had no idea how much a wedding was as I’m his only daughter, so he wanted me to get more information so he could be prepared. Plus, now I can manage my expectations and won’t start the actual wedding process and engagement off in disappointment

This. Plus, you want to talk to your partner about timing for a wedding. It can be overwhelming to present a bunch of ideas or “To Dos” if your partner wants to take some time to enjoy being engaging and not jump into planning—which can quickly get stressful.

This is what we did, too! We both got too excited and told our moms, and they were just as excited/supportive. I always say, I like to be prepared, and I didn't want my venue booked, so sue me!

    Hi!

Yes, we did start planning. We aren't engaged yet, but we have already planned the wedding. We have already booked our photographer. I already bought my wedding dress. I just happened to find the one without even looking. We already have our venue, cake decorator, caterer, invitations, wedding favors, and etc. The only thing that we have to do is meet with a wedding decorator next year. I just started Graduate School, so it was easier for us to plan the wedding now as opposed to later. We already have our wedding party. They have been asked and accepted. If things change to the point that they cannot be in the wedding, they will not be replaced. It's a small wedding with about 50 guests. I absolutely the budget and planning tool here on this website. The budget tool has helped me tremendously with sticking to a $5,000 budget.
It's never too early to start planning and getting ideas.

Wow!!! That is so wonderful that you are both on the same page and have gotten so much done already. This makes me feel less “crazy” about how much I’ve already looked into 😂

You are not crazy by no means. It's alot of stress and pressure when it comes to planning a wedding. We chose not to hire a wedding planner because I do special events myself. I have one of my friends who will be the day of coordinator, the day of the wedding. And she has to do very little. I bought this book called The Budget-Savvy Wedding Planner and Organizer. It is so helpful.

I will absolutely look into that. I’m not so keen on a wedding planner either. Thank you so much 🥰🥰

We had the venue deposit paid before the actual engagement. We talked about the wedding with my mom and I also knew I wanted a spring wedding. My mom talked to my fiancé separately from me so she knew when we were getting engaged so she went ahead and paid for the deposit before

I did a lot of research and we booked our venue and photographer before we were officially engaged. With all of the postponed COVID weddings happening and wanting a shorter engagement, we were still able to get the location and dates we wanted. It saved us from a lot of stress.

Love it. There are no rules, just whatever works for you and your situation. Especially since you and your partner are on the same page about the future, there is no harm in being prepared!

It’s always good to get ideas. My FH called the priest to set the date and he got us an appointment with the venue and we set the date with them. This was all before we were officially engaged. He was worried he wouldn’t get our date and started on things right away. By the time we finally got engaged a month later we also had our DJ and photographer too LOL!

I agree Smiley smile I’m working on not feeling shame about it and not caring what other people think, and I think I’m finally at that point where I’m just way excited 👏🏻

I propose to my girlfriend in February 2022 - I've been planning the proposal since about March, and consequently have begun doing wedding research so we don't come in totally blind. We have some ideas and shared wedding boards, and I've been thinking about nailing down a budget so we don't get carried away in the excitement, but I'm also just super Type A and want to be prepared for when it's time.

I know he bought a ring and we're planning on getting married next October, so even thought he hasn't formally proposed yet, we're planning.
