Planning During Covid-19 for May 2021 Brides

How is your planning going for us brides that are getting married in May 2021? For most, we have officially hit the 1 year mark and I can speak to myself to say I am personally concerned about COVID still being around then. All I have so far is my venue that comes with alcohol, food, and some decor. I have absolutely no idea what I should do next, or even if I should truly begin the planning process.

I don’t have a wedding planner, how important do you think having one is during this time?
Has anyone started looking for dresses? I’m located in Baltimore and they are only doing virtual appointments or on site appointments but you can only bring yourself and two other people 😩
Ladies, let’s talk about how you are feeling and what you doing to begin planning!

I'm getting married May 2021. Everything is booked and almost paid for. I already picked and ordered my dress before COVID since it takes 10+ months for them to make it. I'm not stressing about COVID at the moment, just hoping for the best. Smiley smile

I'm a July 25, 2020 bride who has just picked a back-up date for May 2021. I've got everyone booked for my original date and will hopefully have everyone still when/if we move it over to 2021. I would recommend starting to look for your dress and getting that ball rolling. My dress pre-covid was ordered in September and came in right before all the shutdowns in late February. I'm too concerned about coronavirus STILL being a problem in 2021, but I'm not sure what else can be done at this point. If 2021 doesn't work I think we would just cut our losses and do something else.

We are getting married April 2021 and everything is booked and wedding dress is bought. We are planning as normal, not concerned because we have a pretty intimate guest count as it is (less than 60)

Ours is March 2021 and I wasn't going to jump in and get all vendors booked right now because I thought we had plenty of time. Originally planned to space it our over the next several months. But hearing about all these vendors booking up solid because 2020 brides have to postpone is making me nervous. Luckily I already have my dress and we've booked the venue and bar service, but we still need everything else. Catering is next on my list but I'm thinking I should look into everything else now, too. Definitely feeling a bit anxious!

    Hi Janae,

Congrats on your engagement! With one year standing between you and your wedding, you still have so much time to finalize all of your details.

Have you started thinking about the style of dress you might like? I would rank the styles you like and then go into a salon with you two closest girls or your mama! This way, you already have an idea of what you want to see.

It's absolutely okay to feel anxious but I will still encourage you to plan as usual! My best advice is to keep lines of communication between you and your vendors open. Things are changing daily!

    Happy planning!

    Smiley heart

We just postponed from September 2020 to May 2021 and I refuse to worry about at this point. My mental health can't take it lol.

Well I'm an August 2021 bride, and even though we're still more than a year away from the big day, I too have some concerns about COVID still being around, but I try not to think about it. We've continued planning. I definitely recommend getting the most important vendors booked because of all the 2020 couples who are forced to reschedule. I've booked my venue (comes with in-house caterer), designer/florist, photographer, videographer, and DJ. These are the most important vendors to us so we wanted to lock them in ASAP. Prioritize what's important to you guys and go form there.
