Planning for reception only

Mikala, on September 21, 2021 at 11:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 2

Hi there. I'm starting from square one and looking for a planner, but my situation is maybe a bit unique. My fiancé and I will get married at a private courthouse ceremony on a date TBD, and want to have a reception/party after that (on another date) for around 100 people, probably sometime next year. I don't have dates, venue, anything yet. All I know is that I'd like to find a planner who can help me plan not a full-scale wedding, but this post-marriage party. I won't be doing some of the usual trappings of a wedding (no flowers, no officiant, etc.) so I'd think that this would be less complex to plan since there will be fewer details to manage.

Has anyone used a planner for something like this? Should I try to find a "party planner" rather than a "wedding planner"?

I am thinking I'd like to do this in Philadelphia, at a bar/restaurant. If you've worked with anyone there who you loved, that would be helpful to know!

My husband and I hired a decorator and DOC for our upcoming reception on 10/2, so yes it definitely can be done. I did most of the planning though, as far as hiring the vendors.

Hi Mikala! There are definitely wedding & event planners who can help you out with this!! Lots of couples went this route with their wedding celebrations over the last year, so it shouldn't be a brand new concept for them!

You can browse local planners and read their reviews here: Philadelphia Wedding Planners
