Most people would say the planning doesn't start until after the proposal - but that doesn't seem to be the case with millennials! Maybe it's because we're waiting longer to tie the knot, but two out of three millennials take at least one wedding planning action before getting engaged.

Did you get a head start on your wedding planning? Or did you stick to the traditional planning timeline of waiting for an official engagement first?

Traditional- i think all women daydream about their wedding and even create a pinterest board of ideas to sort through later, but no official planning started until after the proposal.

I envisioned how I wanted too plan and had venues in mind but planning didn't actually start until after the proposal. Actually the very next day the planning began!

Modern. We entered our courtship with the understanding marriage was our main goal. When it became clear we were for each other I started planning. Only have 6 months to do so so decided to hop on it. We’ll announce the wedding date the same time we announce our official engagement. He bought a ring and has things planned. Very modern and planned for picture perfect lol

Modern: I HANDS down had a pinterest board started with ideas of my wedding and wedding dress ideas. I never booked anything in advance, but definitely researched venues and other vendors before we were engaged. However, in my defense, we have been together 9 years and we had been talking about getting engaged, so I knew it was coming soon lol

Traditional. I honestly never thought of having a wedding until after we got engaged. Originally we were just going to go to the courthouse and call it a day.

Modern: I had a wedding board already made for my dream wedding. I had to make adjustments based on my fiancé’s input and our budget of course.

Traditional. I didn't do any planning until after our engagement. I have had a pinterest board for years though to save ideas along the way.

Modern! We both knew he would propose by the end of this year (he had mentioned that it was on his bucket list before 2020) I didn’t know EXACTLY when though. But we ended up buying our bridal party gifts, cake topper, and champagne flutes beforehand because things remembered was going out of business (80% off everything!) a WEEK before he planned to propose and he made plans- again him not me- to go to a bridal expo about two weeks before he popped the question. we have been dating 6.5 years and started to discuss marriage and our wedding day at the 3 year mark but wanted to wait until we were out of school (I graduate with my masters in November if everything goes to plan). We also had our budget and a guesstimate on when we wanted to get married and relatively where so we were able to book our venue a week after the proposal!

Tradition - I didn't even have a pinterest board, never had any dreams as a kid (I day dreamed about jobs/career I was a odd kid lol). The most I did was look at dresses, mainly when my best friend was getting married. But that was it.

I never expected to be getting married and my FH always said its a "piece a paper" and we live together, nothing will change. He ended up changing his mind sometime in 2015, I found this out soon after I lost my father (very suddenly), because he felt/feels bad that he wont be there and felt he was being unfair to me. So after 12 years of friendship, 9 years of dating and (as of 10/5) 14 months of being engaged, I will have "that piece of paper" lol. And I cannot wait! =) It's been a journey and I am enjoying every moment of it

Traditional - we didn't start planning until after we were engaged. But I've had pinterest boards for years with inspiration to at least guide me in the right direction (:

We were dating for 6 years before the proposal (since we were sophomores in high school!), so we went on a few venue tours before he officially popped the question!

Traditional - we didn't plan anything at all before we were engaged.

Side note: Anytime we would watch a wedding show though, I would say something like that would be awesome at our wedding if we ever decide to get married *wink, wink* lol
