Planning to rent out our rustic wedding cake stand

Hi! This is a bit random, but this is a question for all brides and/or vendors. I just got my wedding photos back and have had SEVERAL local brides in my area asking if they could purchase or rent the cake/cupcake stand from my wedding. I don't want to part with it because I'd like to save it for the future. I'm definitely not planning to sell it and figured renting it out would be the better option so other brides can make use of it. One of my family members is a woodworker and re-created this rustic wooden cake stand for us, along with several wooden rounds used for centerpieces and our wedding candy buffet. What I'm wondering is this... How much should I rent something like this to other brides for? A lot of hard work was put into it, sanding and staining the wood, time and effort, etc. Just curious about the $$$ portion because I really have no clue. I would like to be fair and obviously not overcharge a bride to rent it from me. Any suggestions would be super helpful! ThanksSmiley smile

What if you didn't get it back or if it came back damaged? Could you live with that?

You could charge a larger deposit (to make sure you get it back undamaged) and rent it at half of what it would cost a bride to buy/rent elsewhere.

If you're planning on reusing it, I wouldn't rent it out. Not everyone will take very good care of it. Are you willing to take that chance?

I would look at rental places in your area and get an idea on what wedding/party item rentals typically go for.

I know of a few people that rent stuff out in my area. Cake stands usually rent for $20-25 but the renter has to pay double the price for the deposit. The renter gets half the money back once it's returned in tact. (So they initially pay $50 but get $25 back at time of return)
