I've been seeing more ppl do this. I even saw a woman open up a savings account for a wedding when she had only been with her bf for three months

I did that HAHA but I also knew we were getting engaged because we went ring shopping and I chose my own ring months before he officially proposed

I did not even think about what a wedding would look like for me until after I was engaged for a bit. I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority though! 😂 After talking with friends and all the wonderful women on this site, it seems like a majority of brides have been planning their weddings way before they got engaged. I actually think it’s helpful to do so! I started completely from scratch and clueless about all things wedding related. It was a huge learning curve! It definitely would have been helpful if I’d had any sort of idea of what I wanted.

I didn't start my wedding planning until around 3-4 weeks after getting engaged, though that was mainly because the proposal was an absolute surprise (we had previously decided that we wouldn't get married, and he changed his mind without telling me). I think that starting to plan early, or at least starting to look around to get ideas, is never a bad idea! It would give you a good starting point for when you're ready to start officially booking everything.

We still aren't "technically " engaged where he's gotten down and proposed but it's coming sometime in the next month I'm pretty sure. We wanted to be married this year so once we figured that out we started planning. We've just kept it quiet for the most part. We already have venue, photographer, and DJ booked and meeting with a caterer next week. I might be finished planning by the time he proposes officially 🤣

I booked our venue before he popped the question. We had talked about it and agreed to book the venue so that it wouldn’t get booked on the date we wanted. I don’t see harm in it - even if it is a little backyard. ❤️

I think it's perfectly OK to plan before you're engaged like thinking about budget and guest list, looking for ideas, researching vendors or even visiting venues, though I'd hold off on actually putting down any money.

I did. I wasn't engaged until December 2020 but I had bought my dress and veil in July 2020 along with my flowers (I'm doing solawood). I also have a jacket for my dress and had shoes all before I had the ring. It was a matter of time. I was so horribly picky with what I wanted in a dress that when I found it and it was on sale I didn't want to risk not finding it later. For the record I knew he would ask, it had been a conversation months before that.

Been planning for years hahaha!! I had a giant pinterest board with several posts on there. I had even bookmarked several venues that I loved in our area!

I found it very helpful to have a solid starting point instead of starting from square one! It was nice to be able to just go back to an already made pinterest board, and just delete what didn't work. My style has changed over the years, so some things I saved 4 years ago, aren't my style now haha!!

Well we aren’t “technically” engaged but we’ve booked the venue. In his words he “wants to do it right” and I suspect that involves a romantic meaningful spot, and we’ve been hunkering down with covid and all LOL
We’ve been telling some people though.
