Hi fellow brides and brides-to-be! Our wedding isn't until next May but so far I have booked our venue for the ceremony and reception, our caterer, and our photographer just to get an idea of how much money I have to spend. I'm getting a lot of snarky comments from people saying that I'm planning too early. I'm not sure if it's because I'm overly sensitive or that they're right. I think I'm just anxious about the whole thing. I have a very strict budget and by planning this sixteen months early I feel like I have a better idea of how much I want to save every month. Any thoughts or comments?

I don’t think you’re starting too early at all. I just got engaged in November 2019 and we aren’t getting married until November 2021. We already booked our venue for the ceremony and reception in order to get the date we wanted. Starting early is a good thing so that way you aren’t stressing last minute about things! I know budget is a huge factor. I’m about to graduate college and my fiancé and I are having to move to another state for my job once I graduate. It’s better to start looking early and narrow your choices down than wait and be stuck with ones you don’t like but their the only ones available.

So don’t worry! Just enjoy planning your special day at your own pace! It’s your wedding not theirs 😊

We started planning last February and are marrying this July. It has been a fun experience being able to decide on all those big and little things one small step at a time.
My fiance and I have been enjoying the journey💕👰
There's a Lott of things to plan and options to narrow down and research.Starting early and taking our time was definitely a great choice for us.Enjoy the journey💙

Do not let ANYONE tell you you are doing things too early or too late. My fiancé and I have an 18 month engagement, and I have been planning from the start! Its always good to plan things out, because these things do take time and care. You are doing great! The more you get done sooner, the less stress you feel closer to the date! Don't forget to enjoy your engagement, but dont be afraid to do what needs to be done Smiley smile

In my opinion, it's always better to plan earlier than later!! A lot of venues and vendors get booked up quickly, so if you wait until the last minute, you're more than likely not going to have exactly what you wanted! There is no such thing as planning too early. Besides, planning is such a fun part of being engaged! You should enjoy every second of it. Smiley smile

My fiancé and I got engaged January 13, 2018, we’ve been planning since that date. We got our date and everything figured out within a week and then started contacting vendors. We didn’t officially book anything until this year (we are getting married October 4 this year), but I got my dress last fall and have been in constant contact with so many people. We’re finally booking our baker and Reception venue in March.

My wedding isn’t until July 2021 and I’m planning now. We have to pay for our wedding ourselves and find it easier to pay for things throughout the years and a half instead of waiting until it’s closer to foot the bill. If the vendor lets you then who cares!! I will admit this is my 2nd wedding. I had the luxury of my parents paying for my first one. But if anyone made a comment that has nothing to do with being paid or paying the bill I’d just ignore it.

Already married here (8 years in Feb) we are having a vow renewal. The original time was very small his mom, dad, and gm and I had my gm, mom, and 2 of my siblings. So this time we are doing the big wedding with the whole 9 yards. Renewing in Feb and I’m already planning stuff. Do what makes you happy 😊

Girls I did the same thing! We got engaged in August of 2018 and I have had almost everything booked since April of last year lol. I thought maybe it was too early but it's been so nice just knowing it's all taken care of. We had to book our venue a year in advance and pay for it in full. That's another thing I no longer have to worry about. Now I just need to concentrate on the little details over the next 9 months.

Girlfriend I was engaged in August 2018 with a wedding in October 2020...I had ALL of my vendors booked by summer of 2019. More than a year in advance! It’s a great idea to give yourself as much time as possible...take your time with research and save some money.

Girl it’s yo day yo way. Tell them, I’m the nicest of ways, to shove it. I’d rather have as little stress and be as prepared as humanly possible before the big day. That’s coming from someone who decided THIS year that we are getting married THIS year 😂
If you have a budget and you know your timeline, don’t let someone talk you out of it. Better over prepared than under.

16 months in advance! We started planning and purchasing right away. 70 days to go and everything is paid for, wedding, rings, etc. including honeymoon trip! Never too early!

I’m planning on getting married next March and I’m barely looking for wedding venues. It’s not a bad thing to have everything booked. Honestly people are very opinionated and jealous. I was being to that “you have a year to figure it out” but it’s people being rude. Better to have everything set now and pay little by little.

I totally agree!! Theres no such thing as too early. We also booked our venue and major vendors like photographers & dj last early (17 mos. Out) and this year we are concentrating on saving $ and puting together the little details.

My wedding is March 5 2021 so far i've booked all my major vendors photographer videographer decor& floral and DJ and my venue of course. we want to have everything paid of by august so that as the wedding gets closer we aren't worried about paying everything. it's not too early at all.

Heyyy my wedding is also may next year, I have booked the venue, ordered my dress, booked the photographer and videographer and need to send the deposit to the DJ. We've gotten liquor quotes and confirmed both our caterers. I also started sketching out my boquets for the wedding part already because I plan to make them myself. Next I'm working save the dates.

There's no such thing as "too early" in my opinion. That way there's no/minimal scrambling at the end. I want everything paid by end of this year so next is just enjoying my engagement.
