Hi fellow brides and brides-to-be! Our wedding isn't until next May but so far I have booked our venue for the ceremony and reception, our caterer, and our photographer just to get an idea of how much money I have to spend. I'm getting a lot of snarky comments from people saying that I'm planning too early. I'm not sure if it's because I'm overly sensitive or that they're right. I think I'm just anxious about the whole thing. I have a very strict budget and by planning this sixteen months early I feel like I have a better idea of how much I want to save every month. Any thoughts or comments?

I booked my venue 2 years out, and got those same remarks. But I rather get that than panic because all places are taken because we looked too late!

I spent a year and a half planning and picking vendors. It’s never too early. I am now a month away from my wedding and so glad i started early. We budgeted for $15000 wedding and by the end are paying $20000. My advice is shop around. Plan and budget very detailed. We got a great deal on our venue, did DIY for center pieces, and have 160 guests. We have friends that spent $30000 on their wedding but we wanted to be able to save some money.

Not at all! You do what feels right and stay ahead of the game, is less stress long term and you can focus on looking your best. We got engaged a December 24th, 2019 (about a month ago) and I had everything planned within 2 weeks! Lol Venue is booked, bridesmaids, groomsmen, officiant, etc has been taken care of. Almost booked all my vendors and our wedding is not until April 2021! All I have to focus on is making my wedding gowns 😆🥰

My wedding is next July and I’m beginning to tour venues as well! Honestly I’m a very anxious person and planning helps alleviate some of that stress! Do what makes your day easier to plan!

We are getting married may of 2021 Also have a strict budget and have booked everything already too. I have bought all of the decor made bouquets and even found my wedding dress already. It’s exciting to do but when your on a tight budget and making sure you stay with in your means planning early is the best way to go! I feel because then your not suddenly broke all at once and can pay a little at a time to make a dream wedding even on a budget. And besides last minute planning is sooo beyond stressful

To be honest with you, even if it is with 50 people it is always best to plan ahead. You never know the family schedule and not just only that it will suck if you have to compromise on something because you didn't give yourself enough time in between for those special words, "but or if I would have done it sooner".

Don’t listen to them! I started planning early as well and I’m so glad I did. I never felt rushed on anything. I think it’s a great idea, that way you don’t have to worry about limited availability. And it does give you more time to save and budget. Don’t listen to anyone, it’s your wedding, do it your way.

Our venue, photographer, DJ/MC and videographer are all booked for our October 2021 wedding. We started in June last year. I don’t regret it one bit!

My wedding isn't until next April and I also have my venue. I'm in the process of getting bridesmaid dresses. I just really don't want to wait until the last minute and then rush to get things done. I want the last few weeks leading up to the the wedding to be stress free and relaxing as possible.

Pay them no mind. I’ve been engaged since 10/7/2018 and my wedding isn’t until 10/16/2021. I’ve been planning since maybe a week after we got engaged lol. I had my venue booked by the beginning of November 2018. I don’t mess around! Since my fiancé and I are paying for it all on our own we wanted to get quotes and lock down our preferred vendors no issues. So plan away!

We wanted to get married in 2021, but our venue was already completely booked for 2021 by Oct. 2019. We just booked it for Jan. 2022 (worth it to wait for us). So I'd say no, you're not planning too soon. Plan early, get the big stuff squared away, and enjoy your engagement!

Nothing wrong with planning ahead. Most wedding planners love that because, not only can they get you the best deal. If you book in 2020 for 2021, you get 2020 prices. Keep on doing what you're doing! You're right!

Our wedding isn’t until 10/1/21 and I have the venue, photographer and DJ booked. I just like planning and knew who I wanted to book and I wanted to make sure no one else got them before I did. Just do what you want, it’s your day, not theirs!

I honestly think it’s fine, I’m in the same boat. I got engaged in July and slowly started planning as I get married in Jan 2021. Just ignore the snarky comments, girls can be catty. It’s your wedding, plan how you want and what’s best for you! 💜

I got engaged 12/25/17 and getting married 5/15/21. We started looking at venues right after being engaged knowing the prices would go up and we are paying the wedding ourselves. Gave us more time to save and less stress. We have everything booked since 2018 and now we are enjoying our engagement and doing the little things, ie; wedding registry..and able to try on wedding dresses. Never to early to start. Especially if you know what you want and think the price is right!

I'm getting married this coming Apri, but my fiance and I have been engaged almost 3 years while I finished college. I started my wedding planning last January. I backed off after booking my photographer and videographer because of the same comments you're getting. I then procrastinated and I'm stressing getting it all done now. It's not too ealry to plan, and it helps with the stress

My wedding isn’t til June 2021 and I’m grabbing anything I see and like 😂 already have after party shoes and can’t wait to hit up summer sales for getting ready outfits! I don’t want to stress later so the more little things I get out of the way now the better!

I am definitely on the same page as you! I got engaged March 2019 and the wedding isn’t until March of 2021. The ceremony & reception venue I already had booked by the end of 2019 AND I had picked out my dress by the end of 2019 too! I knew those were the biggest expenses so I wanted to get those out of the way & I was hearing that the sooner the better so you can focus on the smaller details as they come. Rn I’m battling my Save the Dates bc I’m doing a DIY / printing at a print shop so it involves a lot of researching. Definitely go at your own pace Smiley smile

If you want to track how much you’re spending on your day. That’s your right don’t let people’s opinion dictate what’s best for you!!
