Hi fellow brides and brides-to-be! Our wedding isn't until next May but so far I have booked our venue for the ceremony and reception, our caterer, and our photographer just to get an idea of how much money I have to spend. I'm getting a lot of snarky comments from people saying that I'm planning too early. I'm not sure if it's because I'm overly sensitive or that they're right. I think I'm just anxious about the whole thing. I have a very strict budget and by planning this sixteen months early I feel like I have a better idea of how much I want to save every month. Any thoughts or comments?

I just got engaged on Jan 20, 2020, and we already booked our venue for December 2021. We are currently working on our engagement party which will be in March of this year.

I’m june of next year and I already have most of the big vendors booked! (Photo, video, photobooth, DJ, officiant, cigar roller, hair and makeup all booked!) I want to know what I need to save each month too and being able to pay it down will be great. Also way less stressful this way! They can keep their opinion to themselves - keep going!

It is so much more stressful waiting until the last minute! You have all 3 of your major vendors booked? You go girl! We had a year and a half to plan and I was pretty much done booking vendors when we were 10 months out. The only thing I wish I would have done is made spreadsheets and met with more vendors before choosing.

We got engaged a while back, just picked a date the other day and it's 6-26-21 and I'm already planning, narrowed it down to 3 DJ's, calling the venue place tomorrow, have my dress already (because of when we got engaged) I have a Caterer, our cake is being customized! We are almost done with the big stuff!! You are doing good on your planning!!

Although prices do change it’s ok to shop around and do your research. Just don’t settle right away

Girl don’t worry about them! I got engaged in October and by December at all the major stuff booked! Wedding vendors book so quickly! My FH didn’t believe me until we started calling and deciding on things! Our venue, in November of 2019, only had 2 dates left for April 2021 when we will be getting marry!

You’re doing great! My motto is better get it done so you can enjoy the time leading up and do the fun things closer to the wedding!
    Congratulations!!!

Do what Makes You Happy and go ahead and put ur deposits down you will be so Glad you did.

Planning "too early" was the BEST decision we ever made. We got engaged 1/20/19 and started in right away. Now, all I have to do is get in touch with vendors to discuss details. docs are already signed and we are moving forward with A LOT less stress rather than having to hear nos from people because we waited.

I think you're doing fine! Ours isn't until October of next year and we have our venue and are about to book catering and photographer.

Now obviously this only works if you have a little bit of the money up front. we were able to make deposits and have enough time to save up for the balances.

You can never plan too early!! No matter how prepared you are or how much planning you do there’s going to be a million last minute things to take care of so get as much as you can done as early as you can!

I think that you are absolutely correct to plan ahead. The more you are prepared, the better and the cheaper prices are on lock down before the prices go up in the following year. Don't speak to too many folks about your plans, because people think they can give their two cents and it's really none of their business. You stick to your guns. We planned our wedding two years in advance and it went beautifully. People thought we were nuts, but we did what we did and we had the best day ever. So will you. Keep your confidence. You are on the right path! Hugs!

We got engaged just before Christmas. Within a month we had picked a date (April 2021), booked venue, catering, DJ and selected a photographer. Having watched my friends plan and stress their about their weddings, I've decided to adopt the philosophy of the more I do now, the less there is to plan for later.

I've come to realize that hater's are going to hate. I had a co-worker say some snarky comment about how we were done Wedding planning within 2 weeks. She said " omg your doing things too fast, slow down". Guess what she got engaged 2 weeks after and within a month she was done. I didn't go cake tasting since ours is a destination wedding. She's done EVERYTHING to include her dress. O think "now who needs to slow down" :-). That just goes to show you that people are ALWAYS going to have something negative to say.

You’re not too early at all! May is a super popular time, so things book up and it’s nice to know what you’ll be paying/spreading out the payments! I’m getting married June 2021 and I already have our venue, caterer, music, photographer and I’m talking to some florists! It’s you’re wedding, you do whatever you want 💛

I don't think your planning to early. I got engaged on 01.01.19 and I found my venue a week later. I am also a very organized person and I like to make sure my "ducks" are all in a row. Especially if you and your FH are financially responsible for it.

Same here girl! I’m getting married in April 2021 and that’s all I hear it’s too soon it’s too soon! I already got my dress and booked our venue I’m still looking for a photographer that’s affordable. And hey you know what I like to think of it as us being smart and hell yeah we need to know the prices of how much everything costs specially on a strict budget! All I can say is you do you girl it’s YOUR WEDDING. Congrats on your engagement!!

OMG, no!! You are fine!! Those people have no idea what they are talking about!! Time goes by sooo fast!! I'm getting married on 3/27/2021 and I already have a venue, DJ, catering, photographer, photo booth, bouquets and boutonnieres for the entire wedding party and myself, the only things I haven't done yet, are centerpieces, wedding signs, table linens, bridesmaids dresses, invites/save the dates and attire for the groom and I. And I had all that done like 3-4 months ago!! Go at your pace girl!! Don't listen to anyone else!!! You do you!! Especially since your paying for everything yourself like me!! It definitely helps to do stuff early so you can figure your budget and make monthly payments and whatnot, your doing everything right!! Keep going!! Good luck and congratulations!!
