Hi fellow brides and brides-to-be! Our wedding isn't until next May but so far I have booked our venue for the ceremony and reception, our caterer, and our photographer just to get an idea of how much money I have to spend. I'm getting a lot of snarky comments from people saying that I'm planning too early. I'm not sure if it's because I'm overly sensitive or that they're right. I think I'm just anxious about the whole thing. I have a very strict budget and by planning this sixteen months early I feel like I have a better idea of how much I want to save every month. Any thoughts or comments?

My wedding is set for February of next year and I started planning 2 months after getting engaged July of 2019. There is absolutely nothing wrong with planning your day early. My future hubby and I have saved more money, stress less because we have more time to plan, we’re paying everything ourselves so vendors are more willing to let us stretch out our payments. It’s super convenient for us and ultimately, that’s all that matters. Whatever works for you and your future hubby! Btw, I already have my dress, the venue, photographer and videographer, and cake set and it’s only February 2020 with a year left to go lol you are doing just fine.

I’m getting married in June 2021 and I also have my venue and date set. Pretty much everything that I want for my wedding has already been determined. In my opinion the sooner you start getting all of your ducks in the row the better. It gives you enough time to save and know what you’re financially getting into and it also gives your room to add and save if need be. The last thing you want to do is to plan when everyone else is planning and then you’re fighting other brides for the photographer you want or the DJ you want etc.I feel so much more at ease that we initially decided to not have it this year. We got engaged in November so it was like the holidays and thenEveryone had new babies recently and it would just be not enough time to plan the wedding that we really wanted to have if we had to have it six months down the road. Trust me this is the best way to go and congrats to you! You’re going to have the best wedding ever! ♥️

    Hi Liberty,
I think that it’s important that you get a early start on your weeding .This way you know how much needs to be saved and when deposits can be made. Great job !!

If you're doing the planning at your pace, your definitely not doing it wrong! I got engaged in June 2018 and my wedding date is October 2020. I started booking vendors in Fall 2018 because I knew I was moving (I am returning to the original city to get married) and I have a very sought after date on a holiday weekend (10/10/2020 on Columbus Day weekend). It paid off for me because I even got 2018 pricing from most of my vendors! You just do you and ignore the nay-sayers. Some people are born planners! Congratulations on your engagement!

Not. too. early! I got engaged 12/28,/2019, wedding date 5/28/2021. Started booking things in January 2020. I have had the same comments, but every vendor I spoke with was already booking for 2021, and said Charleston books up 1.5-2 years in advance. Plus it really helps to have time for payments when you are paying for things yourself. You do you. Less stress in the long run in my opinion!

You're ABSOLUTELY NOT planning too early!!! One thing about people they'll be late and unorganized regardless because it's not their wedding!!! Start as early as you need to!! I got engaged 12-24-2018 and my wedding is 6-20-20 and everyone is still being stragglers and missing deadlines, but not me 🤗😍 because i got a super head start !!!

Screw them, it’s your wedding! The earlier the better! Just don’t plan something and then change your mind 12 times, cause then you’ll drive yourself crazy. Happy planning, you do you!

I started planning 2 years out and it was great! I've made monthly payments and have been able to do a little at a time instead of forking it all over at one time. We are now under a year and have all the big stuff planned!

I think you’re fine! Mine is next June and I’m doing the same as you! I’d rather be safe than sorry, venues and everything else book up fast. Just disregard those comments and keep planning! Smiley smile

I don’t think you’re too early. Venues get booked pretty fast and you don’t want to experience what happened to me. We scheduled our further out because the venue we desired had all 5 dates we chose BOOKED. So to play it save we push the date further out. It works out. Shopping around can never be too early, it the guaranteed date that matters.

I honestly started planning mine about a year ago and my wedding is in May. It helps so much to alleviate the stress, as much stress as I’m under right now I can’t imagine if I had waited till the last minute to do everything. Enjoy all of it ,enjoy the planning and being engaged don’t let anyone tell you how to plan your own wedding that’s the one piece of advice I will give to every future bride from here on out lol.

Nothing wrong with being ahead in my opinion! If you are sure these are the services and vendors you want why not and give yourself time to pay on everything.

I was the same my major things were booked within the first few months honestly and now I have the details to worry about and pay for vs. the large items.
