Planning wedding time?

Brianna, on March 29, 2022 at 1:18 PM Posted in Planning 15 13

It's getting closer to wedding date and I'm trying to finish up the last couple things I need to do. I'm having a hair stylist and makeup artist come to the venue so I can get ready all in one place. The hair stylist is doing mines and my fiancee hair only. The makeup artist is doing mines, my mother and sister makeup. My wedding starts at 4:30pm. I'm wondering what time should tell them to be at the venue?

What time do you need to be ready by? Are you doing a first look? Once you know what time you need to be ready by, then talk with your hair and makeup artists and ask them how much time they think it will take to get everyone done, and work backwards from there. I would also add in a half hour or so of extra time, just in case things run behind schedule. For example, if you need to be ready at 2pm, and they estimate 3 hours to get everyone done, ask them to arrive around 10:30am.

I agree with Lisa's suggestions. I'll also add that if you're not doing a first look, you might talk to your photographer about taking photos of you putting on your dress and jewelry, with your mother or sister, or even just photos of you in your dress before the ceremony. And definitely schedule in some time to take a few minutes to collect yourself. You don't want to be rushed between getting ready and ceremony time.

I’m not doing a first look (sorry I forgot to mention that!) but I’m going to ask them how long they think it may take to get everybody ready first too! Thanks for the help!

Your welcome. This is my second marriage and his 3rd but this is both our actual wedding ceremony bc we both did DOTP last time. Don't want to. I'm only getting married one more time which is this time so i want to do it right. And my fiance wants me to have the wedding I want. But not ridiculous price. If u need help with ideas or vendors I can give u some pointers. I mean I work from 4am to 1230pm at the airport and even when I'm working I'm still talking and looking up vendors and places for different vendors.

I pretty much got everything done. All vendors and all that. I’m doing little things like jewelry, shoes and invitations. I’m happy your fiancé want to you to grace the wedding you want! Hope it’s a wonderful day!

Typically between the hair/makeup team and photographer, they can tell you when is best for them to show up. It’s part of their job descriptions to give you a timeline, not the other way around.

Thank u. Yes its just a small close family and friends. Not going all out. Going with a great venue but I'm coming up with most of the vendors myself instead of going with the venues vendors. Cost less that way

You should get a timeline from both your photographer & HMUA. The photographer timeline should tell you what time you need to be getting dressed (everyone else should be getting dressed about 10 minutes before you) & that’s the time you tell your HMUA you need to be ready by. HMUA should then give you a timeline that includes when each person needs to be in the chair.

My ceremony starts at 5:30 (no 1st look) & my photographer wants me getting dressed by 3:30. We will all have our hair and makeup done by 3:00. Hope that helps. Also, just make sure you build some cushion into the getting ready timeline so you don’t feel rushed.

I would get to the venue by 3:00-3:30PM. That way you have enough time to get there, get settled, and not feel rushed when it's time for the ceremony.
