Planning your honeymoon during Covid-19 October

Felicia, on April 5, 2020 at 10:32 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 13
I’m looking for brides who are in ten process of booking their honeymoons for September or October weddings. Are you guys holding back or putting money and moving ahead? I fear that the travel insurance won’t cover Covid if there is another outbreak this fall. I simply can’t justify spending thousands on our honeymoon to Hawaii right now but at the same time, we need to book it if we want to go. We are considering pushing back our October wedding until July just because of this headache. Is anybody else in the same boat?

We are rebooking from April to September.

I am waiting until a little bit later to start booking another honeymoon. I am hoping May will give us some more answers on where things are going.

On the bright side, airlines are being very accommodating. My bff is getting married in September and so all her bridesmaids live in a different states and we are booking flights for it and all the airlines are saying if you’re buying flights between now and may 2020 for future travel, you’ll get free change of flights or credit to use within 1-2 years. So there’s at least a little bit of flexibility

I’m getting married in October as well and as of now have no plans on postponing. Only time will tell, but I’m hopeful we can get married on our date. I am holding off on booking our honeymoon, however. I think we have time. We are going to Aruba and I think we can book a month in advance and be fine. Ideally I would like to book it by June or July, but for now I am holding off. I’m more concerned with my wedding right now.

We had planned to book our honeymoon 2 weeks ago - Europe. We have since discussed a smaller honeymoon last minute and a true honeymoon at our 1 year. (Nov 2020 bride). But for now we are waiting.

We’re in October and, although everything with the wedding is booked and planned, we keep changing the honeymoon ideas. So that’s the only lose end remaining. But with flights so low, we’ll probably take advantage of that and make a final decision in a month or too.

October 2- our planning is done, my wedding dress is at my parents house, we even have the invitations in hand already ( there was a really good sale in January that we took advantage of). The honeymoon was decided on and were were just tracking flight prices to book- now we have decided to wait on booking the honeymoon (international to Lisbon). It can be booked later if we want. Or we may wait a few more months to go on our dream trip to see the tulips in the Netherlands!

My wedding planning is basically done for our September wedding. We are just doing a local honeymoon about an hour north of where we live. So either way we will go, even if we end up just hanging out at our hotel. I'm pretty sure by then things will be somewhat normal.

We’ve had our honeymoon booked for almost 6 months now. Our plans right now are to go to Italy and Greece immediately following our September 6 wedding. As of right now, airlines aren’t offering any refunds likely because we booked well in advance of the spread of Coronavirus and our date is still 5 months out. Right now, we’re just waiting it out to see how the spread continues and of course, the state of Italy as we get closer. We know that there’s a good chance we’re going to have to make some adjustments and come up with a new plan but for now, all we can do is wait.

We just moved our April wedding and Thailand honeymoon to November. We had everything booked, hotels, tours, dinners, etc, and we either got our money back or it was rescheduled. Everyone was so considerate and helpful. I’m praying everything is back to normal by then 🙏🏻

We are getting married August 8th (sorry I know you asked for Sept/Oct responses) and also going to Hawaii so thought i'd weigh in. We are going to Hawaii from August 14th-28th. We booked our hotels (airbnbs/VRBO) in January. We hadn't booked our flights yet...
We should know by June if our wedding can happen. VRBO has a 100% refund option available if we cancel before June 6th. So that's good.
The Airbnb only has a 50% refund left until mid-July... but I think if we had to cancel the hosts hopefully (or Airbnb) would be flexible to give us 100% refund.

Basically we will make a decision in June and if we can go- we will book our flights then. We are really glad we hadn't booked flights yet as airlines are more difficult to deal with compared to hotels/Airbnb/VRBO.

My advice to you would be to consider booking hotels (with good refund policies) but hold off on flights until the end of the summer. No need to rush that purchase now, but I can understand wanting to lock in the perfect hotel early.

Wedding in October. We've only 'RESERVED' our hotels accomodations with Reserve Now, Pay Later due to the uncertainty.
