Planning your own bridal shower??

So I have a bit of a unique situation. I am having a destination wedding in November, so not a traditional ceremony. It's just going to be our parents and few close family friends attending so I don't have a bridal party/ MOH that would traditionally plan a shower. My cousin got married last year and that whole side of the family came together and planned her a really nice shower, but because I'm having a destination wedding and they are choosing not to come, they are more or less acting like I'm not even getting married. I don't want to seem greedy by throwing my own shower, I don't care about the gifts, I just want to be a bride and have all of the bridal experiences and to celebrate my upcoming marriage at home as much as I can because I know most of my family won't be present on my wedding day. My mom has offered to help me plan/throw a shower but I just didn't know if it was weird to basically be throwing it for myself.
