The short answer is that you don't. People know that cash is a good gift. Don't create a registry and people will default to cash gifts. If someone asks about a registry you can just say something like, "oh we don't have one. We're trying to save for a new home before we get more stuff!" People will get the hint. Some people also suggest honeyfunds/cash funds, but those charge a fee for you to get your money. Some people in older generations also tend to find them tacky.

You don't. Just don't register. People will buy you gifts anyway because that's what's done, so accept those graciously. You can't dictate that people send money or don't purchase gifts.
