Planning

Amanda, on November 5, 2020 at 9:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
So I have planned all the pieces of my 8/15/2021 wedding myself. I have a notebook full of all the information and contacts and what nots. We are lucky enough to have a venue that rented as a 3 day rental so we are decorating all day the day before, and honestly don’t think I can trust someone else to make my vision happen. Everyone keeps telling me to get a day of coordinator. Can someone explain more to me as to why? Like what do they do that I haven’t?

And not on making sure everything is properly set up when you should be getting ready (hair, makeup, etc)

Many brides on here say they don't regret getting a DOC.

Well, do you plan on lining everyone/bridal party for the ceremony? Make sure the DJ plays the right song at the right times? Do you need someone to keep you on schedule that day? When something goes wrong with catering or one of the other vendors— do you want to handle it while you’re getting makeup/hair done?

99% sure your wedding is not going to be on time / there will be hiccups as every wedding there is lol this person assists with that so you don’t stress out. We hired one for our intimate 20 guest wedding and so glad we did, because she handled everything and anything and no stress 😎

I should add, I’m not totally against the idea. I am actually looking into them. I think it’s just the “wedding planner” thing got me. Because I felt like I’ve already done that part I just needed to know the ups of having a day of person there. I can see where it would definitely take some stress off. I just wondered the actual task they take on day of to see if it was worth it.

The main things my DOC did that I could not do myself was spend that morning while I was getting ready coordinating the vendors & making sure everything ran on time and everyone was where they needed to be.

Without someone in charge, it puts the onus on the bride or relatives to lead the day and it's chaotic because only you know everything and you can't be everywhere at once. So working with your DOC they can help execute your vision.

Also, I wanted to be able to enjoy my day instead of stressing over the details

It’s worth it because they handle things logistically since day of there’s gonna be so many things you’d have to do and directions you’ll be pulled

It's not necessary to have a wedding planner if you've already got most of your stuff planned out, and if you feel confident that you don't need one. I would highly suggest a DOC because they are the ones that will keep everyone on schedule, in the right place, and be there to solve problems that pop up so you won't have to!

Our venue package came with a DOC and we are having an in person meeting. There we will discuss our wedding vision with them and they will offer insight, suggestions etc. that they think will help! They will also get with our vendors closer to the wedding date to make sure everyone is on the same schedule and knows what's going on!
