Plastic cups for reception

Leesha, on January 21, 2015 at 3:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Our wedding colors are Blue and Yellow(sunflowers) and we are providing all cups for reception. (We are buying real wine glasses, but dont think it is necessary for mixed drinks/beers)

So we are buying plastic cups from Party City. Should we have all BLUE plastic cups?

Or mix it up between blue, yellow and red?

I am thinking maybe just all blue?

What're your thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Does it have to be plastic? I'm sure people are sick of this, but what about Mason Jars? depending on the size of your wedding you can "assign" each person a jar to use for the night (make a cute little sign) and they can also double as a favor and escort card

Agree with Valarie.. It will look more like a birthday party if you do multiple colors.

    Go with the blue.

But honestly, even getting Chinet cups from a warehouse store like Sam's Club will be similar expenses and will make it look a lot better. You might want to consider those. They are plastic, but give off a fake crystal look. But it ups the fancy level from standard plastic cups.

TBH Ive never been to a wedding where there werent plastic cups. I'd stick with one color. OR clear. I plan on useing clear & I second the higher grade clear cups, looks very nice.

I think clear looks nicer for a wedding, but if you want a color I would just stick with blue.

Trust me, i wanted to do the mason Jar glass idea.. I REALLY wanted too.. But my whole family steered me away from it.. We have more than enough mason jars.. They just ya,, steered me away.

i for sure do NOT want it to look like a birthday party haha!!

Yes, party City is AWESOME prices. Thats where i am going to get them, either Blue or clear.. Still un decided...

It will for sure be between clear or solid blue. Hmmm.

I do like the clear look, but i wanted the blue to add more colors of blue to the wedding.(not that there wont be enough already haha!!)

party city is awesome... buy one get one free so you get an extra 50 for the price of one.

Thanks for all your input ladies Smiley smile

The nice thing about plastic cups is that they won't break if dropped. We started counting and we have an average of 15 glasses break during a wedding reception. And it almost always happens right on the dance floor where people are not wearing shoes.

I wouldn't go with white. Alicia - Do you have a link to the exact cups you were thinking of? I think if we saw the exact ones that are blue or clear, we can get a better idea. I'm picturing blue solo cups, which may not be the ones you are choosing. Thanks Smiley smile

I just looked on Party City's website. If they are the ones I saw (under the section "colored party cups") I would definitely do clear. The blue ones still look very frat/grad party to me. But the clear is a little nicer.

My vote is clear, no question.

The Dollar Tree has really nice plastic "crystal" bowls and serving trays! Definitely very fancy, but only $1!! They have serving spoons, too. They have a pretty good wedding section.

They aren't as cheap as Solo cups, but if you want blue, I think something like this would look much nicer: http://www.partycity.com/product/bright+royal+blue+tumblers+14oz.do?sortby=ourPicks&size=all&bypass_redirect=1&familyCode=F181720F

We don't have a choice - we must use plastic. We are keeping the cups clear so they don't stand out.
